I was curious as to wether pecan wood has been used for building guitars. The only production model I found is an early eighties Alvarez DY 53, some described as having pecan back and sides and some described as mahogany. Some other solid body one offs... Here's the Louisiana Ag depts pecan info. www.lsuagcenter.com/portals/our_offices/research_stations/pecanJ

Good to see you're pronouncing Pecan correctly young Ken ~ I got a bollocking off a bartender in N'Awlins for saying 'pee-can'! Slide On! Ian. FYI, it's pronounced "New Oyunz". lol

The pecan is getting a little tall and needs staking, luckily I have some suitable bits . PT

Pete, Indeed you do. Those MM BLUES necks are perfect for supporting small trees, especially ones that come from Muddy's front garden. Lovely! Shine On Michael.

Taking wood from a tree to make a guitar neck then recycling the neck to support a sapling.Your environmental credentials are impeccable Pete.

Ken asked the other day about the pecan, well it’s now taller than me and may not fit in the greenhouse next winter, but one of the advantages of global warming (this could be the only advantage) is that it might survive outside! Pete
