Further to the discussion about Schatten pickups for resophonic guitars; I have been in touch with Rod Rose at Schatten Design and he is sending me both pickups to test and review. I look forward to receiving them. We can pick this up and restart our discussion when I have tested the pickups Shine On, Michael.

Hey guys!! OK, here goes.. As I said earlier, I got this pickup and I have installed it in my tricone.. And I like the Schatten TC pickup very, very much!! ;D It’s natural sounding, get’s that “cone-tone” and it captures the “honk” of my tricone!! And I just love the Honky sound, hard to describe but you know what I mean.. The TC I just plug in to any amp or PA and it sounds great right away!!! It has less output than my Fishman PU in the VS Delphi though.. But on the other hand it's perfectly EQ:ed, the Fishman needs removal of LOTS of volume in the upper treble region..!! For me, the most important feature from a resonator PU is the way it can reproduce a sound of cone, and not just sound like any acoustic guitar. The TC does this in a very practical and convincing way!! And it was very easy to install too... And the putty used, works great, it sticks the PU to the T-bar like the best glue, I couldn't believe how hard it stuck..!! I'll be using this mostly in combination with an external condenser mic(or SM57).. My last couple of gigs I've returned to playing in front of a mic as well as being plugged in to the PA.. And this works great with my reso's, using the internal PU makes it easier to get a good volume without the hazard of feedback, as I would get using only the external microphone.. So from me it's thumbs up!! Thanks Schatten for finally giving us(poor musicians) a nice priced alternative to the Higlander system!!! ;D I'm off to a Norwegian bluesfestival today, and now I really have a HARD time choosing which guitar to bring.. Bummer, I like them both so much.. At least both now have great PU's in them..!! So we'll see.. Take care!
