What do people know about Donmo Reso's? I can see they are expensive, but I've never seen one in any shops in the UK. I presume they are decent players guitars, I heard that sometimes the finnish isnt great, but other people swear by them. users.senet.com.au/~donjenny/

Hi Alan, Donmo guitars: The only one I have actally played was recently in London at LRC. This was a single cone guitar with a kangaroo sandblasting design on it. To look at, I thought the design (although I do understand the reason....being from Australia) did not work at all and looked wrong. Not because I particularly like palm trees & Spanish dancers, but because the kangaroos just didn't work for me! The overall build quality of this guitar was good, I thought the metal-work was finished better than the wood. I am also not sure about the headstock design, although I do agree that every maker should have their own design to make the instruments recognizably theirs. On the positive side & this is certainly the most important - I thought that it played very well & sounded great. It was loud and had a good tone for playing delta blues slide guitar. The next time I visited the LRC they had sold the Donmo. I think in Australia they have become quite popular and from what I can tell everyone in this photo looks pretty happy! I admire Don & Jenny for creating a brand of guitar which is now known. Shine On, Michael.

Hey it's nice to see some girl reso players - even if they are in Oz! It would be nice to hear about other gals who play resonators/slide guitar in the UK - or am I the odd one here? (careful how you answer that.....) Slide on Sonya

Hi Alan,
Well I've seen Emily Druce at a couple of festivals - she played slide guitar on a few of her songs.
But I'm sure there must be more of us out there.....

Hi Sonya, there must be a few other girls in the UK playing blues slide guitar. I think the only honourable thing to do is to find them. On the other hand.....you might be the only one!!! Okay forum members....can we track down any more female blues slide guitar players in the UK?
There's Emily Druce, who has already been mentioned. There is Angelina Grimshaw on the Isle of Wight, she is not really a slide player, but she does own a 1930s style O and plays great blues, Jazz & folk music. Now I am struggling! ...there's gotta be more of you out there> Shine On, Michael.
