Hi Michael,
Really enjoyable workshop today, shame it couldn't have lasted longer! It was good to meet Manish and hear him play, your two different styles go together beautifully. You must do some recording together.
Could you ask Manish what kind of oil he was using?
Cheers Tymus.

Hi Tymus,
Thank you!
Manish uses Jasmine oil to lubricate the strings. It works brilliantly, I have been using it all week.....and it smells wonderful.... :-)
....now to try the glove!!!!

Hi Michael,
Today's workshop was wonderful. Manish is such a lovely bloke (pardon the jargon) and his playing is so evocative.
I wish I was in your shoes having a friend like him.
See you tomorrow evening.
Regards,
Chris

Thanks Michael,
As I don't have any Jasmine oil I've just tried a drop of lemon oil on a lap Diddley Bow, the difference between with or without was far more prominent than I expected. I found it much easier to control the slide particularly when moving slowly and the string noise was noticeably reduced. However it didn't take long for the damping finger to wipe the string dry, perhaps Jasmine would last longer but I did notice that Manish was applying it regularly. So next time I'm passing a Hippy shop!
As regards "I lay down the gauntlet", I think you'll get the best results on an electric!
Cheers Tymus.

Hi Tymus,
I think that Jasmine oil might be better than lemon. Manish says he has tried various oils and jasmine is the one. He does apply it regularly, but only a tiny bit at a time, too much and your slide will ski straight into the nearest lamp post! I am finding the combination of Tribotone slides and jasmine oil, amazing!

Looking forward to the gig this evening! Got my table booked and getting a train down this afternoon. Is Indian soul food still on the cards?
