I would prefer not to update to the new software and there is an option to opt out of the upgrade, but if I do that there will come a time where we have to upgrade because ProBoards may not support the old software forever.
I have seen a sample of our forum in the new V5 software. A few months ago I was able to test it out to see if I liked it. It was fine and in many ways better than the current version.
I am sure it will be fine.....I HOPE!!!!

As I said, there is nothing to lose by sitting back and watch it all unfold before our eyes on other forums (fora?) In that way, Proboards would be forced to smooth over the rough edges on their new improved wheel before we were forced to take the plunge... My objection to Facepage is that you do not have the sanction to remove your profile. Once it's created, it's there for posterity. But hey, I'm just a cynic and with "nothing to hide", I ought to get on board? Nope, I don't have a TV either, so I reckon life without FB is conceivable and nothing has dissuaded me from that opinion so far. Of course if I made my living from publicising myself, I would have a completely different opinion.

Points well taken, it probably has updated technology stuff that we don't know about that hopefully works on all browsers. That does make me feel a little nervous. If it ever comes!

Me too, but I think the new version 5 does have some good stuff, I just hope it works!

I hope it works as well - fingers and toes crossed. Have a mac running 10.6.8/firefox/safari side by side with a pc running vista/firefox if anyone needs me to check any display issues - though I have no problems with any of the other forums I go to*. I think the way it works is you only see your own variation of it and the public display is something the moderator chooses. In any case, I read the forum as is is backed up up nightly right now and can be restored - they may have a provision for temporary restoring to that when they launch, which I don't know. A good IT dept will do that. *(Equipment from days as web designer)

Well, to quote many an old blues song, 'I woke up this morning and my forum had changed'
I hope there are not too many teething problems, please hang in there 'til we get used to it!

Oooerr ~ okay...the background colour is certainly different, but it doesn't look too difficult - even for me!
