Hi Michael, I've just been to visit the widow of a friend who had some tools to clear out. Also quite a few instruments. I am putting an offer in on a Hofner Beetles Bass that needs alot of renovation. She also has a small Kalamzoo Gibson that she is keeping. Anyway, the reason for this post is to ask if this lapsteel has any pedigree! No name, numbers or anything, the mahogany colour possibly isn't original as Colin was known for stripping and re painting things (hence the bass needing alot of work)! Any help greatly appreciated. Keith.

Hi Keith,
The lap steel looks to me like a refinished Selmer. Anyone else got any ideas?

HiKeith,
I thought it was a Selmer. Those came with an amplifier that was also the guitar case. I guess the amps were made by Vox/Truvoice.
They are good guitars.

I thought this may have been of interest, I don't think there's a case though. The widow is leaving Greece soon to go to family in Scotland and my concern is that nothing of historical value gets burnt!! There are a few junkers there, a Stagg guitar 20 euro I guess, an ally rim banjo, a mandolin etc etc.

Hi Keith,
The Selmer is not worth much money, but it is a nice guitar that should not end up getting burnt with the rubbish.

Selmer put their badge on all sorts of things. I had a `Selmer ` on a bakerlite Rickenbacker. This may be US made and re-branded. Is it a `Through String Pick-up`? PT

The Selmer bakelite Rickenbachers were definitely made by Rickenbacher, although Rickenbacher categorically told me a few years ago that under no circumstances were any imported guitars re-branded by Selmer and sold through Boosey & Hawks in the UK.
I am pretty sure the Selmer is a European-made instrument. I know them quite well as two friends of mine have exactly the same model as Keith has shown us.

I'm going to buy this as the seller just wants rid of everything, I shall probably move it straight on though when I know if it works! I'll find out tomorow if there is a case and amp knocking around too. Fingers crossed!

It does work! it also has a case which I'm sure is the proper one. Sadly no Vox amp in it though!
It's up for sale in Tin Can Alley.
Keith.

Hi, I had been searching for info' on a Selmer Truvoice lap steel. This is the exact lap steel I bought 3 months ago from a private sale in Edinburgh for £180. Refinished and rewired, sounds good too.
Some noodlings here....

Thanks, I DI'd using a Tech 21 Blonde pedal (Sansamp) for Fender Twin sound and for Overdrive used a Nobels OD Mini. All FX were on Logic Pro X
