It's true, I tend to write too fast because my web access get off an on every five minutes (I really live in the woods...). Absolutely true, the term had to be more precise. True there's a whole range of instruments made in china and others countries not as good as the ones you have carefully managed. I just feel something somewhat similar in shape and materials in most of the brands with that same geographic origins; from Shangaï, I do not mean they are all the same quality, of course, but we can understand they have something in common in their ADN. My sadness is due to the fact that I had a very nice sensation to see some of Franta's made instruments. Very different, thinner materials, lighter (and we know how it's important), with great hand work. (They aren't perfect for shure, Franta miss one thing or two, but the metal work seems to be on another step than Shangaï made instruments, altrough for the few ones I've seen....perhaps at the begining of Amistar?...). I can only imagine if a fine metal work like this with your knowledge and apointmets on a better set up certainly give birth to something very good. I hope and I trust in your Triplate project. Best wishes!

Hey esteem-ed folks, I just purchased what would seem to be a rarity - a Continental MAHOGANY Tricone. The info is second hand, but it would seem this is a prototype that never went into production because the costs were too high. It belonged to an US air force officer who had been stationed in Germany and bought it direct from Hans Graf. Here's a listing on Reverb where I first saw it about 10 months ago. I, in turn, bought it from that buyer. reverb.com/item/47968964-continental-tricone-resonator-custom?show_sold=trueAny info is greatly appreciated. Regards, Sean PS Also own an MM Lightning which is lovely and itself staioned in Europe at the moment.

Hello Sean,
Good to hear from you. I remember sending the Lightning to you in July 2018. I am pleased you are happy with it.
The Continental mahogany tricone looks very nice. There is little I can tell you that you don't already know. The guitar is based on the wood bodied tricones that Mike Lewis (Fine Resophonic Guitars) was and is still building. The Continental is solid mahogany which is completely different to Mike's and is an unusual way to built National-style guitars, so it will have its own unique character. I am sure it is a beautiful guitar to play and I wish you many happy times playing music together.
Shine On Michael
