More Josh White, superb guitar again in Vasterpol. It's a wonderful track that is most well known for being covered by Kokomo Arnold. Whoever did the digital clean up was deaf. I know that Paramounts are never the finest sounding 78s, but that squeaky top on Charlie's voice is because the person mastering the CD didn't know how or when to stop. Probably done using a software wizard, rather than a pair of ears. Here is a better sounding clean up job.... Shine On Michael

I’m sure this has gone up before, but it’s our way to see how to play in the style of Josh White. Vasterpol in C.

Ari Eisinger is a dear friend and is without question one of the finest blues players around. Ari is also a member of what has to be the best looking boy band this side of the Mendip hills! I've been listening to the Staples Singers a lot recently. Just so good and this is a truly wonderful record.
Classic Muscle Shoals line up.... Eddie Hinton on lead guitar, David Hood on bass, Terry Manning on harmonica and guitar, Barry Becket on Wurlitzer, Roger Hawkins on drums.
Eddie Hinton, apart from being Muscle Shoals session man, also made a wonderful album in 1987 called Letters From Mississippi. This track, My Searching Is Over, has been a favourite of mine since I first heard it back in the late 80s. Eddie licensed the album to UK label, Zane Records in Reading, Berkshire, who I am very pleased to see are still in business.

Another beautiful video of Norah Jones with The Handsome Band. This one is of the soundcheck at the Ryman in Nashville.
This video was posted on Facebook earlier by Robbie McIntosh. Here's what Robbie wrote about working with Norah.....
This brings a tear to my eye because I bloody loved playing with this band!Such a lovely bunch of people and groovy, no pressure vibe. I was very lucky. Imagine what it was like having that voice coming out of the monitors every night? Doesn’t get much better! This was at the soundcheck in Nashville. They were setting up cameras and sound etc.

Nice video Thx ! I'm a big fan for Norah Jones (especially for what she did with Jim Campilongo and the Little Willies). The Ryman Auditorium is a very special and impressive place too! I been fortunate enough to be there, several times, and felt the air was different from any other concert hall I came to know...(never wanted to go to the Barnum Circus, Opryland USA !) The only comparable place, in Nashville, is, imho, "the Station Inn".

The only comparable place, in Nashville, is, imho, "the Station Inn". I know all three venues and I agree that the new Opryland is not the same at all. My first visit to the Ryman and the Station Inn were in 1979. I played at the Station Inn a few years later, but never at the Ryman. Although on my first visit to the Ryman, backstage after the show, I did meet and get to know Bashful Brother Oswald. I also met Grandpa Jones, Minnie Pearl and Roy Acuff. On a visit to Opryland a few years later I met Roy Acuff and Brother Oswald again, as well as Hank Snow and a few other wonderful old timers. The Opry was an amazing institution when it was under the watchful eye of Roy Acuff. You may or may not be aware that Robbie McIntosh is a friend of mine, which apart from loving Norah Jones' beautiful voice and band, was my reason for posting. Shine On Michael

Beverley Knight at Radio 2 Wogan House. I know that room and that's a lot of people in a tiny studio. Great performance, Beverley!

Some record that, Stevie First time I heard it was on the car radio in early 1970s and when that bass line came in I clipped the kerb at the Saracens Head roundabout in Beaconsfield coz I was concentrating on the music instead of driving. Cost me a new Firestone Cavallino for my Mini Cooper, did that.

It was "The Swing" that did it PD. There's little mileage in getting Science to qualify or quantify that.
