Such a brilliant record. Loved it when it was released in 1974 and still do. Hamish Stuart and friends...

Blooming heck, would love to see Fernando Pérez live. I don't know which hand to watch! But aside from his obvious technical brilliance his playing is so musical and full of expression. The use of pinches, open strings and Kora like runs with the drop thumb and index, not to mention all the subtle push thumbs...just astounding and so clever.
I think he's mainly playing out of vestapol but if anyone knows better I'd love to know more. The first two tracks are lovely but from track 3 onwards it really starts to get serious. Well worth a watch all.
Best, Lew

I love the unmistakable groove of this track. That amazing sax solo and key change shake the whole sound up and really give it a lift. Funk royalty. Shine On Michael

In the last 6 months I've been listening to Shakti very much. I bought every CD they issued and I dig their music, their musicianship, passion and fire! Frank

Frank I love this performance of Shakti; John McLaughlin with Zakir Hussain, V. Selvaganesh and the late Uppalapu Shrinivas from 1999. Shine On Michael

Not seen this before. Beautiful live footage of "The one and only tail dragger, better known as HOWLIN' WOLF"
Wolf and Hubert Sumlin are both playing brilliantly, so is the piano player who I don't think is "Destruction"... phew!

I think it's Sunnyland Slim on pianer, Willie Dixon bass and Clifton James drums, but I'm probably wrong again.

After the waterlogged day we've had here in the lane, I just had to post this again: Things are just about dried out now but the garden pond is contaminated.

This is a bit lengthy but really enjoyable set from Charlie Parr with Tony Polecastro. Charlie has a sold out show about 10 to 15 minutes from my house this Sunday. Happy to have a ticket.

Last Sunday Charlie Parr came through town. It was a great show at a beautiful venue called the armory (built in 1907). Here is a clip I got of Charlie playing 1922 Blues that night. As always, he plays a long show, he’s humble, funny and has time for who ever wants to talk after the show.
