messages from over a half century ago, that still seem relevant.
a long deceased bud-o-mine from high school years was really into this band. his mother wasn't. he was a veteran of many of their winterland/fillmore extra length concerts. so it's not like he wasn't a survivor...
i think she mainly disliked the name, she called them "the unwilling living".
IMO by just three years later, their music had matured greatly from the previous trucking/casey jones style into what I feel was a diverse and truly great band. to my knowledge, their later releases didn't move that well financially. such a pity.
guess that could be an indicator of how well my particular taste in music sells?

Rocket In My Pocket.....
I was reminded of this great film of NRBQ by Robbie McIntosh this afternoon.
Wonderful band!

This kid is something special. Doesn't play much blues, unfortunately, but his channel has some of the best fingerstyle work I've seen.

I posted about him and his friends a while ago. Not such a kid now, but Josh does a lot of really good projects with a bunch of musical friends. They are now professional touring artists with quite a following. They were in London a while ago, but I didn't find out until they'd gone. Shine On Michael

We were talking a few days ago about Josh Turner. Here's a lovely cover of Paul Simon's Graceland, recorded in 2014.

Ike & Tina Turner - Come Together 1969
Damn.... They were such a great band! Every time they always nailed it and Tina makes her imitators look like wet rags.

Can't remember if I posted this before. If I did, then tough luck, you've got it again cos I think it's terrific.

mitchfit- nice to see The Dead get some appreciation on here, although my tastes in their music incline a little earlier than yours. "Death Don't Have No Mercy" on Live Dead, from 1969, is an incredible version of this Gary Davies classic. Jerry Garcia really had a feeling for the blues.
