A few questions have come up on other threads about Pocklington, so rather than have them fragmented around the forum I thought I would start a thread that covers all things Pocklington related. There is a thread called 'Travel to Pocklington', can anybody help Pete in Cambridge by sharing the petrol? Pete, I have looked at my route and to go via Cambridge would add too much time & distance to my journey. Also, Steverb has been asking if I would hold a lap steel class on the Sunday morning. I am happy to, if that is what everyone wants to do. Shine On Michael.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Pocklington in a few weeks time. In addition to the weekend of tuition; on the Saturday night there will be an acoustic blues concert at Pocklington Arts Centre. If you can't make it for the whole weekend, it would be great to see you at the concert. Shine On, Michael.

Thanks to Michael and the slide group for another excellent weekend! Hope y'all got home ok. Furry Lewis's name cropped up several times throughout the weekend - not least with an excellent rendition of 'Fallin down blues' by somebody or other on the Friday night Anyway, I haven't got much Fluffy material so downloaded an album of his 'Shake Em on down'. Although it was recorded late in his career, it's very easy listening and both the vocal and guitar is totally awesome. I love those later recorded albums soaked in reverb like Muddy's 'Folk Singer' and Johnny Shines 'Too Wet to Plow. So anyway, thanks for another superb weekend and a prompt to discover another blues hero! See you in 2011! Dom ;D

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the message. It was great to see you too, I especially enjoyed hearing you play & sing on Friday night.
We made it out just in time before the snow stopped all the traffic!
I am glad you are getting into Furry......(Fluffy to his friends), I love his music and I agree about the later recordings. I think I prefer them to his early recordings.
Another year!
Shine On Michael.

Dom: so I can put a face to a name, where are you in the saturday group photo. I'm the left-hand end of the four-lightnings-in-a-row, GerryC and LongToothSlim being 2 of the others.

....just for completeness - I'm playing the other lightning.
I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, it gave me the kick up the whatsit to get me playing with some confidence.
Anyone that is in half a mind to attend the next one shouldn't dither, I've never met a nicer bunch of people.
Thanks, Bob
