On a more serious (sensible?) note: I played Dan Phelps' Resorocket when he came to Dorchester Bluesnights as part of his UK tour. I was very impressed with the instrument. Although it had the capability to be seriously 'loud', without being harsh, it also sounded warm and subtle when played more quietly - by me! (Phil: I do play more loudly than I used to!!) Sonya

Doncha sometimes wish you lived in the ole USofA. A lovely ResoRocket (Serial No 17) just sold on eBay for £708:52. But add on P&P and import tax and import duty then it's heading well up the price range. C'est la vie.

Hi there !
The Resorocket I played WAS Dan Phelps, when he was over in Scotland for gigs. He stayed over at my house, the first time 2-3 years ago when he came over with Matthew Fox. I liked his Resorocket that time (virtually brand new then). Then when he was over last summer I did some songs with him at his gig and played on his Resorocket. Didn't like it as much that time. If I can find it, I'll post the pic we took in my house, with his and Matthew's and my Nationals all set up together.

Hi,
Going back to Growlers initial post - I am now in possession of my Brass/Nickel Reso-Rocket !!!
It's been a long wait some 5/6 months but worth it. My initial impression is that its a great guitar - bit too shiney at the moment though!

Hey Rich, Congratulations on your new arrival Once you have settled in with your new baby (got over the sleepless nights etc ;D) how about posting some photos and sound clips? Better still, how about a review of the Resorocket on YouTube ? Yours Robn PS - I'm sure that 20 years of solid playing will give the shine some mojo

Hi Robn,
I'll put some sound clips and pics up soon!!!
I'm not best placed to review it though as I haven't played a whole heap of resonators to compare it too.
I was hoping my couple of visits to the London Reso Centre would give me a chance to play a load but the Nationals don't stay in stock long enough for them to have them hanging around to play.

Hi Robn, I've finally got some recordings of my National ResoRocket. I don't know how helpful they will be for reference as I think the sound / tone will have as much to do with the recording process / equipment / mixing etc as anything else but hey... have a listen anyway. There are two Slide/ResoRocket tracks on my myspace.... Roll & Tumble Blues and Hobo Blues (the John Lee Hooker song) you can find them here www.myspace.com/steelunionAlso I have a few pictures or the guitar dotted around my website at www.steelunion.co.uk/I must say I really like this guitar. I have hung on to my 1970s Dobro DM33 initially but can't really see me picking it up again so will probably sell it in a while. I particularly like the cut away because I capo a lot an it means playing in F (Open D capoed up) and the like is no problem at all. Having settled on Michael Ms .15 string I'm also much more comfy as it came with .13 (too light) and I tried .16s (too heavy). My only slight criticism is its a bit tail heavy and doesn't balance particularly well on my knee. On this subject, I want to add a strap point at the base of the neck... is this something peeps would advice getting done professionally or is it easy enough to do a good job onesself? Cheers, Rich T

Thanks Rich, The songs you have posted on MySpace are fantastic ;D You get a really full sound with just your Reso Rocket and harp - it is great to hear that guitar in full swing! I like the idea of having the flexibitilty for keys that the cutaway gives. Now the LRC has closed the problem is going to be finding somewhere in the UK to try one out enjoy Robn

Hi Robn,
Well if your ever in the Northampton area, let me know and you can try mine out. I know the problem too well as I really wanted to try before I bought, but nowhere had one. Luckily, the London Reso Centre said if I ordered one and then didn't like it they'd give me my deposit back so I went for it. Another real shame the LRC has gone. I was very lucky that after a 5/6 month wait I got my guitar only a week or two before their demise. Both Mel & Ron seemed like real gents and was a pleasure doing business with them.
And thanks for the kind comments from Michael and yourself. See that week I spent at Blues Week in Northampton with Michael must've paid off! :-) Thanks Michael.
