Luton is nearest. Stansted has been used by attendees before but I'm not sure how convenient it is for public transport.
I'll be travelling from the south and could pick up or drop off at Luton, I'm sure others may be passing Stansted.

Not me, I'm afraid - away in France, engaged in our usual summer charity work of helping poor French peasants dispose of their surpluses of wine, cheese, pate etc. It's hard (especially in the blistering sun) but needs to be done...
Cheerily,

Just another reminder that Northampton Bluesweek starts on 1st August.
There is still time to sign up, it's worth trying to make it for a day or two even if you can't make the whole week. It is a prime chance to learn from some of the best players and teachers in the world.
Funny thing happens though whenever we ask who is going more people respond to say theta are not than who are actually attending.

I am flying into Birmingham from Belfast, and I am going to try to get the train to Northampton, hopefully the trains are idiot proof and I manage to get there.
I am going over for the harmonica lessons, but I would like to try some of the beginner slide guitar lessons as well. I have a neglected MM Lightning in the house and I think a few lessons might help me get started.
Will the beginner slide guitar lessons will be suited to raw beginners? Apart from watching the open G section of Michaels DVD and learning a few of the licks and chords I have no experience in playing the guitar. I only have the original semi ridged case for my lightning, I am guessing that that wouldn't be enough protection to check the guitar in as baggage.

I have only paid the deposit for blues week, I was expecting a letter reminding me to pay the rest, but I haven't received it yet. Has anyone else got theirs?
I tried contacting euroblues to see if I needed to send the rest of the money, but I haven't got a reply yet.

Hi Purpleorange,
The beginners slide class will be very helpful to you. Homesick Mac is the teacher and he is very good at teaching beginners.
Re; bringing your guitar in a regular case, rather than a flight case. Well, it is a difficult one because 9 times out of ten on a local flight it will be fine, BUT there is always the possibility of it getting damaged. I use Calton cases because I fly my guitars around quite regularly and therefore the risk is higher. I cannot say 'do it and don't worry', but I do think for one trip you'll be fine.
Make sure it has big FRAGILE stickers on it, and tape over the catches with gaffa tape.
If anything is damaged, which you have to prove before you leave the airport, the airline will usually pay out.
Regarding your question about Blues Week deposits & payments; I keep well away from all that! I am sure Euro Blues will answer your email.
Shine On Michael.

Purple I've just received the receipt for my deposit paid many weeks ago. Don't worry about being asked for the balance just send it off. That's pretty much the usual form. My information is that the Bluesweek pack will be posted soon. Look forward to meeting you at Northampton. Michael is right,Mac is a great teacher.

Thanks for the replys, I will get my cheque posted off tomorrow.
I will need to find out if the beginner slide lessons clash with any of the harmonica lessons that I want to attend, will there be schedule in the blues week pack that gets sent out?

Hi Purpleorange,
There are two of each class every day. So it is set up for you to do both classes. I don't think there is a schedule in the pack that you will receive.
Shine On Michael.
