Nico.....that Art and Lutherie sounds like the sort of thing you want to be learning this sort of style on (their little parlor size Ami is a nice one)...and in any case 700 euros is plenty for a decent guitar. Use your existing guitar, find a good teacher, spend the money on lessons, stop worrying about whether youve got the 'right' guitar or not.....and just play.

I would say buy some thing that's nice, plays nicedly, has some street cred and being old may even go up in value not down. But, then I'm an old bu**er myself And, in response to your question I would say that your nut(s) could well be plastic.

A long time I only got frustrated when I played guitar. Now I know how that came. I own a couple of guitars and also three electric guitars (a Fender Telecaster, Stratocaster and a semi acoustic Yamaha). I discovered in the time that I am learning to play guitar that playing on a electric guitar isn't really my thing. I will never play like Stevie ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton or other great electric blues players. I am not a plectrum player and not good at playing fast solos on the electric guitar. I only got frustrated and so I got frustrated on playing the acoustic too. I am playing blues on the acoustic for two years now and I like the styles of the old Delta blues players. John Hurt, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Boy Fuller, Lonnie Johnson, etc etc. I discovered that I am good at fingerpicking on the acoustic. Much better then playing on the electric. An acoustic is also more a solo instrument. The electric more a lead instrument. To expand my collection of guitars I decided to buy a model of Art & Lutherie guitars. This is going to be the AMI.
