Hi everyone
Besides trying to play the guitar, I am into steam boating, making every part of the machinery myself.
From a mechanical point of view, a slide is nothing but a piece of tube with defined diameters and length, made from what ever material you want.
Any guy possessing a lath could make a slide to your specifications within an hour, if you gave him a piece of round scrap metal.
If there is no small machinery shop in your neighbourhood, try for example to contact a member from a model steam club or British Steamboat Association.
Regards Jørgen

Hi Jorgen,
My main slide that I have used for the past 18 years was made for me by a friend. I used to buy brass gas pipe, glass bottles, steel rods, and any other tube that might be able to be turned into a slide. In the days before companies were producing designer slides, there was no other way. I love my one-off handmade slides, but it is wonderful that now you can get high quality ready-made slides.
Shine On Michael.

Thanks everyone, for your helpful suggestions. I think the best option is to perhaps hunt down tubes of different materials, and get them cut up and polished!
