There is a great set of photographs of the Louisiana Red & Michael Messer concert in Southport (17/04/09). The photos were taken by Alan White and are featured on his excellent blues website called - www.earlyblues.comThe concert was the third show of the tour and our special guest for the evening was Lucy Zirins. Lucy opened the show and then joined us for a couple of songs in the second set. I am unable to download or link to the photos due to very secure copyright protection. To view the photos and the rest of Alan's website go to; www.earlyblues.com/Southport%20-%20Louisiana%20Red.htmI also have some great photos taken by Lucy's dad, Ian Zirins, which I will upload onto my website & this forum in due course. If anybody has photos or film of the tour, please post them on here. We would love to see them. Shine On Michael.

Those photos are fantastic! I have a few from the workshop but they are nowhere near as good as those in the link...
BTW - I see you have your usual SM57 on your guitar and SM58s for vocals. What is the mike on Red's guitar?

Hi Jon,
They are great photos. I have spoken to Alan White and he very kindly is going to let me use the photos on my website.
The microphone on Red's guitar in those photos is a condenser mic of some kind. On most of the shows we used 57s on both guitars, but a couple of times other mics were tried. They were okay, but IMO didn't have the punchy sound you get from a 57. So after a couple of experiments I stuck with the 57. It is still an unbeatable way of amplifying a resonator guitar...IMO.
Shine On Michael.

Hi Michael here's a short film of yourself and Red at the little Civic Wolverhampton, not fantastic quality but gives a good idea of how good the concert was.
