SUNDAY 19th APRIL 2009 >WORKSHOP SPECIAL!!!
BLUES & SLIDE GUITAR WORKSHOP
NORDEN FARM BOX OFFICE IS NOW ACCEPTING BOOKINGS FOR THE WORKSHOP ON 19th APRIL 2009 >BOOK SOON AS SPACES ARE LIMITED
Here are the venue's programme notes:
Come and learn to play blues slide guitar from two of the world’s leading players.
An afternoon in the company of Louisiana Red & Michael Messer promises to be an educational and memorable event.
Louisiana Red, now in his seventies, learned his craft directly from blues slide guitar royalty. His teachers included Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Son House and Earl Hooker. Red is always happy to spend time passing on his knowledge from six decades of touring and recording. What more needs to be said!
Michael Messer is English with an international reputation as a master of slide guitar. In addition to his 25 year recording career, Michael has released a very successful tutorial DVD ‘An Introduction to Blues Slide Guitar’, and has taught slide guitar for the past ten years with the Euro Blues organization.
This is not just a chance to learn slide guitar, but an opportunity to spend four hours in the company of a bluesman with a life story & history that almost defines the genre.
Four hour session at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts - £35.00 (£30.00 concessions)
Starts at 2pm on Sunday 19th April 2009
This workshop will be an informal four hour session. You can be a beginner or an advanced player; everyone will benefit from this special event.
Refreshments will be served during the 30 minute break
SUNDAY 19th April
NORDEN FARM CENTRE FOR THE ARTS Altwood Road, Maidenhead SL6 4PF To book tickets call 01628 788997 Email: boxoffice@nordenfarm.org
We have picked this venue for the workshop because it is perfectly situated with its own car park, bar and restaurant. Not being in London is an advantage for people driving from various parts of the UK. Near the M4 outside Maidenhead.

The concert at the Little Civic in Wolverhampton has been moved to SUNDAY 3rd MAY 2009.
The concert promoters had made a mistake and booked us into the Little Civic Theatre on the same night as Gary Moore is playing the Big Civic Theatre. Two blues concerts on a Wednesday night in Wolverhampton would be hard to sell, so we agreed to change our show to Sunday 3rd May.

Hi Michael, Are you guys lugging CDs around with you to sell at the gigs? I'm a sad git that likes to buy after the concert and get the CD signed by the artist if possible.

Hi Michael,
I had a great time at todays workshop in Maidenhead.
Red is true original that carries the torch passed to him directly from Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Earl Hooker and many others. I feel like I got close to the well today....the source. A very memorable day indeed. Red testified the truth yet again....its not what you play. Its how you play it.
On top of all that, he's such a warm, genuine person. I could've spent hours more with him.
Good to see Melps again and meet many other resoholics suffering the same afflictions I have.
Also nice to see you again too. Its been too long! Your playing was superb as always.
Thanks again for organising!

Calling Mr McWee!
Help! - I'm in need of another Evolution!
While at Michael and Red's workshop, Red needed a steel slide. I handed him my Evolution and he loved it! "Where did you get that?!" he asked. "I'll endorse this. I love it!", he went on to proclaim.
Being the opportunist that I am, I made a deal with him...he could keep the Evolution if he agreed to play a tune with me after the workshop. A handshake sealed the deal.
I'm now in the possession of a priceless, impromptu recording (thanks to my trusty Zoom H4) of Red and I performing "Walkin Blues". Yet, I am now "Evolution-less".
I'll be placing my order shortly.........

Louisiana Red asked me to put a note up on the forum to say 'Thank You' to everyone for coming to yesterday's workshop. He said it was the best workshop he had ever done.
We both had a great time and hope that everyone enjoyed it and learnt some new stuff.
Also - thanks to the staff at Norden Farm for being such good hosts to us all.
Shine On Red & Michael.
