Hi Ryan. All this is good and sound advice, especially the play-play-play bit... And here's my two penn'orth. LISTEN to as much slide playing as you can. As well as all the stuff on YouTube, get some recordings of the great slide masters and play them when you can't play yourself: in the car, when you're washing up, at the gym...I don't know if they are still available but there used to be a couple of compilation CDs called Bottles, Knives and Steel (Vols 1 & 2) which were collections of the great old slide blues players. Really good starting point for a collection! The other DVD I would recommend is Stefan Grossman's How To Play Bottleneck Blues Guitar This is available from www.guitarvideos.com and would be a useful next step once you've mastered the stuff in Michael's fine DVD - and I agree that is the best one available for absolute beginners. (And I learned a lot from it and I've been playing for 40+ years!) Cheerily, Gerry C (proud owner of MM Lightning 0016)
