Hi again !
As I have said already - if you are noticing things about your current tricone not being as good as others you have tried, I sincerely believe you will notice the difference in quality (build+cosmetics) and playability and tone and sustain with a NRP tricone to even a Continental Tricone.
If you go for a Continental Tricone, eventually you are going to want to trade up again - and how much more money will you waste in depreciation (from a new guitar, by the time you sell ?). If you buy a used NRP - you can't really loose ANY money (if you decide to sell, even years down the line) - it IS worth the investment.
I say - stick with your Regal, getting the most out of it you can, really learning on it how to get good tone and attack out of it - until you have raised the cash, and/or a good deal on a "used" one comes along - then GO FOR IT !!!
You will be amazed how worthwhile the wait was - you WILL feel the difference.
My own opinions, obviously !

I'd recommend you to buy an Amistar Style 3, 4 or 5 for the same price as the cheapest NRP..!! The Amistars today holds the same quality as the NRP's for sure and in some aspects they are even better..!! Amistar isn't the same today as they were only 3 years ago.. They continue to develop their production!! LoL!! Jeez, am I sticking my head out now or what!!! But if you take a look at the soldering job for example, you'll know what I mean.. It feels like the cars from the 50's.. US made compared to say, Mercedes Benz.. The US ones looks GREAT and PLAYS(runs) well, but underneath... I am quite surprised, I found this to be true with my NS Delphi as well, but I didn't dare say anything about it because everyone loves the US replicas so much!! As do I in fact, but I just had to say this.. I DO however LOVE the necks and the sounds from the modern day US made National copies ..!! BJ
