Mitch, I don't have a problem with any of the songs you listed. The problem I have with the Sonny Boy Williamson song, is that it tends to be performed by middle aged and older musicians. Sonny Boy Williamson was 23 years old when he recorded what we know as the original "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", and coming from the mouth of a 23 year old African American boy/young man, especially back in the 1930s, is a whole different thing. It just doesn't sound right to me coming from an older male performer and I think young people today would agree with me. In fact I think I will play it to one of my daughters (both in their 30s) and ask their opinion of it.

I have no problems with songs about teenage sex, or any other kind of sex, that's what pop music, much of the blues and so many other types of songs from around the world are about.
Here's an extraordinary piece of work that while I completely oppose the very idea of violence towards women and sexual dominance, I find this piece of music beautiful and unique. It has been in my collection since I first heard it sometime in the early 1980s. Since its release in 1982, in which it won song of the year, it has become one of West Africa's classics. The lead guitar playing is masterful and the way it sits alongside the bass guitar is just wonderful. I love everything about this track, even the argument and the violence works in its context, but if it was sung in English I might not feel the same about it.

after a quick clarification response from you was rude to not post yesterday. truth is my adult supervision and itself sat down to watch the presidential debates thursday evening. it took a long, good night of deep sleep to regain control of the 20ish IQ points lost in just 1 1/2 hours of viewing...
i believe you made the best choice from the no-win alternatives. Potter Stewart was wise to straddle the fence in that booty really is in the eye of the beholder. as for myself, i would not be comfortable with uploading much beyond "lady of the island" in list given. it's my inner prude rearing his ugly little head again?
still, the truth is i liked JJ Cale's, "closer to you" from the first time listen.

Chuck Berry was a married man in his thirties when he released Little Queenie, he was singing "she's too cute to be a minute over seventeen". I think it was opportunistic, it was meant to be a hit for a teenagers?

Chuck was a genius and one of the greatest songwriters ever, but we do also know about how certain areas of his life were somewhat sordid. While he did write those songs for white teenagers, he couldn't have written them if all his morals were in tact. Which ever way we look at it, Chuck Berry was a genius and a master of 20th century music. In 2004 I spent a very enjoyable evening with Chuck Berry and his girlfriend, whose name I can't recall right now. Chuck was an old man at this time and he was a charming and delightful person to spend time with. He had a great sense of humour and was a lot of fun. We talked about all kinds of stuff and laughed a lot. Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans Way back up in the woods among the evergreens There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. I was interested to hear your thoughts about that song and how it sits in today’s society. I’ve seen middle aged men singing that song at blues festivals and it really doesn’t sit right with me. Here's a live recording/video of it from 1994, recorded for the Dutch show "2 Meter Sessions". It's good because it shows who G Love & The Special Sauce are, but I think a smoke too many before the session affected their performance, especially the tempo. Still, it's a wonderful piece of writing and creativity. The trio are great together.

Route 66 is a "swell" song, and so is Like A Rolling Stone. Both are amazing pieces of work. Kicks is a new song to me.
Many moons ago in 1976 me and a bunch of friends drove a lot of Route 66 just to make sure all the name checks in the song are there, and they are!
