REPOST SO'S YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO BACKWARDS TO PAGE 1 Just received an email from Amazon UK telling me the delivery date has now been pushed to 17th.June!!! Contacted by phone "customer service" informing them that US, Canadian and Polish customers received their copies in early April so where's my copy? Their CS manager based in JORDAN said the delay in the UK is due to copyright reasons**. WTF??? I asked if I ordered from Amazon US would I receive a copy from there next week? The answer was "yes, but you will have to pay for P&P US to UK" which more than doubles the price of the book!!! - and what about copyright in that case? "No answer." was the stern reply! BLOODY CLOWNS - should be called Circus.world not Amazon.UK. Yours, very impatiently and grumpy, PD. Have a good day..... **Maybe, just maybe, us UK people are getting copies with the famous so far unpublished photo? - I jest.

Why is everyone relying on Amazon, a supplier with a questionable attitude to the way it treats its workforce (and, so it seems its 'valuable' customers)?
They undercut proper knowledgeable retailers, forcing them out of business - so giving themselves a monopoly while knowing nothing about the specialist nature of the businesses they destroy.
Not an ad, but Blackwells say they currently have 10+ copies in stock and only 4p more than Amazon are asking.
eBay US have copies available at cost of $31 with postage supposedly at £7.15 if you can't get the book from a UK bookseller.
Steering clear of Amazon means that, with our custom, dedicated sellers will hopefully be able to continue to trade.

I didn't get the book yet. Before the release amazon.pl was displaying the middle of April, but it has been changed (date is unknown).
I think I'll cancel the order from amazon and find another source.

I think I will order from Blackwells too, because I can't find it in any continental Europe shop. And I don't mind a good tea

Thanks for the link to the pre publication article it covers many of the mawkish issues that 'surround the photograph' as the publishers comment in the afterword notes the book is a "disturbing cautionary tale on the profoundly complex, at times harrowing, and sometimes haunting practice of telling (or selling) others’ stories" the music on the other hand was recorded at the time, that is RJ telling the story.

Hi again !
Well, I bought the "My brother, Robert" book and just finished reading that when the Mack McCormack book arrived. Having read both now, I find that the "brother" book was far more informative - that and the Bruce Conforth book that came out a few years earlier. The Mack McCormack book filled in a few more details but nowhere near as much stuff as I thought would be disclosed. Most of the revelations & truth came from the Conforth & "Brother" books.
Although the long-awaited photo of RJ with his cousin, is not published in the book, and who knows if it ever will be, the new dime-store photo of a smiling RJ with his Kalamazoo guitar (published in the "Brother" book),sums up everything, I think : He was a normal guy, who just got very good at guitar, and then the "white man" came along to try and rob & lie everything they could about him, causing a lot of confusion & resentment, mostly to RJ' extended/connected family, but to the countless RJ fans who just innocently wanted to know more about one of their favourite blues musicians.
The music, at the end of the day is the legacy that we can enjoy for ever more. Thank heavens RJ & his music was recorded at all.

In the preface, the editor has mentioned the book "Blues People: Negro Music in White America" by Leroi Jones. Has anybody read it?
