Hi Michael Just haven’t had the time as of yet to get my recording side set up. Hoping to find a friend too to play for me. Off busking at a Blues festival this weekend. It will probably happen in December when i start leave

Hi there !
Looks pretty similar to the Fishman Nashville Biscuit pickup to me. I tried that (the Fishman) and it was very disappointing. Very piezo'y and very little resonator cone tone.
I just received the Headway "National Steel" pickup - which goes with the Highlander design, with a coaxial piezo pickup, ina semi-circle, around a routed out channel on the underside of the biscuit. Unfortunately, the pickup is of thicker diameter than Highlander's - AND this Headway pickup does NOT not come with a biscuit at all - which is CRAZY STUPID !!!!!! They think it should be a simple procedure to get a luthier to cut out a channel on the underside of an existing biscuit. Thing is, the routed out channel width AND depth is critical to the pickup working well - and so THEY should provide a biscuit with a channel routed out that they have experimented on to give their pickup the best sound. Unfortunately, they don't think this is necessary !
So, I shall take some biscuits to a luthier I know and see if they can do something with them !

That’s disappointing! I rate their preamps. I use one instead of the original highlander battery box. Shame that quality and attention to detail hasn’t extended to their pickup.

Sorry for the long delay and a sample of the pick up set up but life got in the way. I have luckily had some time off recently and set up a new studio desk and DAW set up. What I did find out is that when recording simultaneously with both a decent condenser mic and the pickup into seperate tracks that the preference for the mic sound was easy to make. In fact the pickup set up using the internal mic was ok although the mic setting was a little too boomy. This could possibly be alleviated with an adjustment on the pickup control; however, this particular adjustment couldn’t be reached with the control in situ. So the result is simply…back to the drawing board. I have refitted the National Slimline I had lying around and will use that when I want to play live for the moment. The Anthem is back in its box and I have fitted a new cone with the newer compensated saddle.
