Hi everyone, some advice and thoughts please. As many of you know I'm a big fan of sixtus pickups and have them on a few of my reso's. Most are 'hard wired' on the guitars and I'd like to install an exterior mounted volume control. I'm sure I've seen them mentioned on the forum before, little boxes with a knob on you can fix to the guitar body or maybe through the f holes. Ring any bells? Any information gladly received. I do use a couple of different pre amps but thought it might be handy to control the volume from the guitar once everything else is set up. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Best wishes to you all, John

I'd buy a decent volume pedal, then you can do pedal steel impressions as well. Just a thought.

One volume pedal would be all you need for all your guitars, that said , I donβt have one at the moment ( though I have had 2 or 3 over the years) . So, if you have a National style guitar with F holes a pot will fit, though on the F hole is not the most convenient place you will not have extra hole in your instrument. Tricone grills will also ( with a suitable washer) accommodate a pot. I have a feeling I have seen a jack-to-Jack lead with a volume pot built in, this might be best. Will do a quick search Pete
Did a search but only came up with3.5mm jack stuff. I am sure someone will make one.

Thanks Pete. Maybe what I saw was a regular volume pot inside a small box. I've got different ways to control the volume but thought it might be nice to do so from the guitar instead of standing up and walking three feet to an amp or pre amp! To much time on my hands maybe. I should be practising the guitar and not fiddling about with them! π€ππΈπ

Thanks linkous. I had spotted this one, but the listing has ended. Getting a bit expensive as well. Just 'need' something for convenience and volume pots are only a few quid so I'll probably go down that route. That cable is a nice piece of kit though isn't it! π I'm also not to sure about the ratings of different pots so if someone could tell me what would work with a sixtus that would be of help. π€ππΈπ
Best wishes to you all, John

250k is generally used for single coil pickups, which tend to be fairly bright, 500k for humbuckers and where you donβt want any treble loss. Fender used to use 1000k (1meg) on some models to keep every bit of treble! Treble can βleakβ through a resistance, sometimes a small capacitor is put across the pot to stop this.
Log. pots are used for most volume controls Pete
