Just got a Dean heritage - straight swap for an Icarus because my hands can’t handle proper sized necks. Impressed with the quality and it’s a good fit for me. It’s a bit quiet though and considering switching the cone. So - will it increase volume and how much of a pain in the arse is it to fit? I’m not exactly a technical genius…

Changing the cone will make a slight difference, but not enough to warrant the work and costs involved in buying a cone and getting it fitted. Spending time on a setup (with advice from members of this forum) is your best way forward.

Thanks pal. To be fair, it’s got some bog standard 12’s on it at the moment so getting some proper strings on will help. Which newtones do you reckon? Single cone steel body with a brass veneer.

Fit a set of my phosphor bronze 13/56, or if you play mostly in open D and G, get 15/56

Fit a set of my phosphor bronze 13/56, or if you play mostly in open D and G, get 15/56 Shine On Michael ...and don't cut them to length until they are fitted and tuned to pitch or the outer windings will loosen. Please read the packet before opening. Cheers, PD
