the advert says local pick up only in Minnesota. has original model logo on a pick guard that i'm not sure about. anyone here have a similar pick guard on theirs? if it was closer, I would check it out myself and keep quiet until I did. :^) $899 mitchfit reverb.com/item/41045788-national-1133-resonator-guitar

Mitch, I have the standard black scratch plate on mine and in all my time of searching for a good'n I never came across a tortie guard on an 1133.
...but I'm not an expert.
It also may be my ancient eyes and poor photography but that looks like an old black refinish to the body to me, too.

looking closer, would want to guess body painted with some form of crinkle paint or truck bed liner. wonder about headstock having what appears a painted on national brand name. thought the painted headstocks came about after nail on serial #'s were dropped. as well as cast badge on upper pick guard/scratch plate.
I can't even spell exspurt...
at stated price still a good price for a "player" guit.
[especially if modding were planed.]

I've got one like the one Michael is pictured with. It's red but not paint. When I've taken off the back plate it seems like it was made with some kind of red shrink wrap that's starting to let go but it does have the logo on the pick guard and a painted logo on the head stock. I replaced my original tuners with something like Grover's as I was more interested in playing it than making it all original but I still have the originals. A chart I got (maybe from here ) of serial numbers shows "X57000 X71000 1956". I had to put mine in storage for a bit and I can't find the notes of the serial number but I think it's 1957. Here's a photo of a gray 'mother of toilet seat' one that I found online. When I bought mine I had a choice of red or one like this and I went with the red.
