Hi Folks, my friend who was a luthier passed away earlier this year. His workshop was jammed with stuff and I'm helping to identify anything of value which can be sold. The are sets of timber, i.e. two matching pieces. Can anyone say what the various timbers are ? The first one is plain Mahogany which I remember being cut from a table top. Thanks Davey

Number 2 , Looks like a flamed maple top for a Les Paul style guitar (can’t see how thick the maple, or possibly sycamore is, could make a rather heavy solid body if it’s full body thickness) and possibly mahogany neck blanks?( depends on thickness) The other number 2pic mahogany sides for acoustic guitar.
The first pic is more difficult without more detail.

HI Pete
The set with the Guitar shape drawn on is about an inch thick, all the others are maybe a quarter of an inch, so intended for backs and fronts. Would the stripey stuff be some kind of Rosewood or Walnut ?
Cheers Dave

Doesn’t look like walnut, could be some sort of rosewood, and of coarse the 3 pairs to the right are for acoustic guitar tops, probably spruce.
