Do we know if the venue has a ‘proof of vaccination ‘ policy? ( I am old enough to be triple vaccinated so no worried too much) but you never know when the rules or recommendations might change . As we will be fairly close together for the weekend should we do one of those Lateral Flow Tests on arrival to check? Am I being over cautious? Probably . Any thoughts Pete

The venue does not have a proof of vaccination policy. I think it would be a good thing for everybody's safety and peace of mind that we all do a lateral flow test every morning while attending the event. The tests are free and now only require the nostril test, which is really so easy to do and only takes a few minutes. I may well circulate an email to this effect. I have just booked my booster vaccination for this Monday 8th November. I saw this today on the NHS website and booked it.... www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/book-or-manage-a-booster-dose-of-the-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine/From Monday 8 November 2021 you'll be able to pre-book an appointment for a booster dose if you're eligible and it's been at least 152 days (5 months) since your 2nd doseWe are not only protecting ourselves, but also others around us. In addition to the vaccination I have just received my outfit for the event. This is a photo taken of me this morning while checking it fits me. I tried to get a Hawaiian shirt design on one, but they didn't have my size. I think that in addition to lateral flow tests and booster vaccinations, that we should all turn up wearing these. I will have had all three jabs before the event and will be happy to do lateral flow test only if it is nostril. Tried throat tests and ended up regurgitating every time. ...just an aside, my Dad was wearing early versions of those zoot suits in 1957 when he was fuelling tactical nuclear missiles. Fortunately they only launched them with concrete warheads.

I've had 3 jabs now and had COVID too so should be pretty indestructible, but happy to comply with lateral flow tests and masks if required.
Better get some practice in (not that it'll make any difference to my performance) :-)

Here is the information about Covid safety measures for the Pocklington Blues & Roots weekend.
The venue has air purifiers installed in the main auditorium and air sanitising stations throughout the building.
Pocklington Arts Centre's safety measures are now just recommendations and not mandatory for customers, however, they do insist that all their staff submit a negative Lateral Flow Test prior to entering the building.
So we should do the same. All participants are asked to do a lateral flow test before leaving home, and each day before leaving their hotel rooms.
Microphones! For the student performances on the Friday night we can do one of two things.
1 - Every participant brings their own vocal mic and plugs it in to do their performance. You do not need a cable, that can be shared.
2 - We do the whole Friday student performance totally acoustic, unamplified. This is my preference.
Another point regarding performances - the audience must not sit close to the stage, they must be out of reach of each performer's breath.
Saturday night concert - Regarding the mic situation, it is not good to share vocal mics unless you really back off from it.
I will have my own mics and stands - I do that for all performances at the moment.
I have a few SM58s which I will bring so guest vocalists can use their own mic.
Please check this thread again before going to the event as I may have some additional information.
Thanks

Due to people asking me about safety in the little bar, and about the confusion of everyone bringing their own mics, I think we will have the Friday night concert downstairs, unplugged and in the socially distanced round.
That way everybody can still do the performance they planned to do, but without faffing around with the PA and all being upstairs in that confined space.
As we will all be seated around the downstairs room in a sort of circle, we can also sit in with each other if somebody feels they would like that. I am sure we can make a great evening of it.
However, I would still throw your microphones in the car, just in case we change our minds.

Sadly, we have just had one of our participants go down with Covid and is unable to attend the event.
This is a very real problem, so please take precautions and do the daily tests as I have requested

For me it’s doubly sad as he was going to give me a lift! Any one going past Cambridge on Friday? I could also get a lift or take the train to a more convenient pickup point. Pete
We were going to drive up and stay on Thursday night ( to be fresh and rested for Friday)

Thanks for the offer Ken. I have been to Pocklington a couple of times on the train, but advancing age means I do not want to carry a guitar( or maybe 2) and bag very far. Going should be no problem, however there are engineering works on the line on Sunday, so delays and long walks and bus replacements could be expected . Pete
