Not come across this builder before, some interesting stuff. The necks (all?some?) are screwed on like a Fender. I have done a few guitar- Reso conversations using this method but most agree that the best sound comes from the old National style neckstick. Looks like he spins his own cones ( can’t see any spirals through the cover plate holes) and hand builds all the main bits. The main thing is the sound and without one in my hands I wouldn’t like to comment. Would love to sit down with him and his guitars but somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen . Pete
I might email him and see if he wants to talk to someone who will never buy one of his guitars but would like to talk about them. They are ( as you might expect of a handmade guitar ) expensive.

Back in the early 2000s there were two of these guitars for sale at the London Resonator Centre. It was twenty years ago, so it would not be fair to say any more than they were built by a creative soul, but not to my taste and they needed some refining. That was twenty years ago.

I'm not particular about these things like the cognoscenti, but for what appears to be the ballpark price for one of Mike Lewis' creations, I know where my hard-earned would be going.
Although it's repeating myself, I have to note that we wouldn't have what we do today if (eg) the Dopyeras had not forged ahead with their own vision. Re-stated that's "Don't knock it until you've tried it." MM has clearly tried it (them). Go figure.

Interesting, thanks. I found myself wondering about set-up so looked at the info and comments. A pair of SM81s into a Presonus tube pre, into Logic with compression, EQ, and reverb in a bid to recreate the sound as the player’s ears heard it ‘in the room’ - don’t mean to imply that there is anything wrong with that, but p’raps worth noting if auditing the clip to hear the sound of the sound of the instrument …

I am really not sure about an 11" cone. OMI's 10.5" cones had problems because of their size and because of not having spirals, so to go even bigger with no spirals is a strange road to go down. Almost every detail mentioned in the video goes against the grain for me. I am sure Russ is a good guy and I can see that he is passionate about his work, so I wish him well.

I only watched the video on Ian's website and didn't see any comments. I agree though. To be honest I was only there for the glass! 🙈🤣 You all know me...120 Ultimates over a fancy guitar every day...😍😍😍
