It won’t play on my device ( iPad) Pete ps: I would still like to know what happened to the action ( height of strings above frets) after the dropped.

Hi Pete, The action is ok I'm a beginner on slide but the sound is nice and clear Sometimes I mute behind the slide but must of the time I let it ring out No fret buzz Cheers for your post Paul

_Hi this is how my honey dipper sounded before I changed the strings ccheers paul It sounds fine in the video. I think I can see, even in that video, that the strings have gone down since that was filmed. Shine On Michael

Hi Everyone, A quick update on my lowering tailpiece. I took my honey dipper to a luthier today Who gave it a complete service he changed the strings to 11s In his opinion the higher tention of the 12s I put on from the original 9s Caused the biscuit to push the cone very slightly down lowering the strings and causing the them to slightly touch the cover plate. Thank you for all of your replies and help. Big smile back on my face tonight Take care Paul

That guitar should easily be able to take 13/56 or even heavier sets of strings without causing anything to move. Shine On Michael

Hi Thank you for your post when these strings get a bit dull I will put a set of mm 12s that I had already boughtAnd get back intouch with you and hopefully you will be right Take care Paul Cones do not go down any more than a fraction with string pressure. The amount they compress when tuned to pitch is not visible. If your guitar cannot take a set of 13/56 in standard tuning EADGBE without something collapsing, then the cone is damaged. I have experienced the opposite MM. With the strings off on my MM guitar, there is barely any gap between the saddle and the hand rest, but once tuned up to pitch there's nominally 3/16" / 5mm, and I can see that quite clearly. I'm guessing it's a continental cone. My best guess is that the cone profile doesn't change significantly if at all, but the bottom of the cone where it sits on the conewell "gives" around those several rapid consecutive profile changes, rather like a loudpeaker cone mount?
e&oe ...

If you like the sound of it as it is, then don't change it. Sometimes they can sound great when they are down on the rim, but also sometimes not. As I said in the previous post, there is some flex in the cone, but the rise and fall with and without strings is minuscule. Shine On Michael
