Compared with some other forums I have tried to use the MM forum is a delight. There is a small glitch at the moment, PMs seem to not be sent, so they appear on your message page when you first type them, but then disappear. First time I have had any problems. Pete I have tried to send a p.message to MM but it disappeared!
(I sent a PM to MM a couple of days ago which got through)

I have endured the PM system for years. What follows is a general commentary not intended as a response directly to you Pete, it's just that I was prompted by your missive. Using the Proboards app, to view my PMs, I have to refresh the page at least about ten times while the progress wheel goes around and around and around, and the trouble with that is that Proboards sometimes views it as an attack and locks me out for an undetermined period. In my case it has been down to the fact that the Proboards app has been unsupported since the change to Android V.6. Despite applied settings, it's a lottery as to whether I get any notifications (basically none at all really). Given all that page refreshing and absence of notifications, it's no surprise that folks don't get through to me. The Proboards Android app was a "paid for" one whereby you no longer had to endure adverts, until they wanted more revenue that is, so they ceased support and duck-shoved "Tapatalk" onto the user.
The trouble with Tapatalk is that at first it was paid for to remove adverts, but I wasn't going to fall for that one again. Secondly it soon became subscription based so I was proved correct there, and thirdly, non "Pro" users are subjected to adverts that look exactly like legitimate posts and that sticks in the craw very very quickly indeed.
I know it's not pertinent to the subject of PMs, but I'll note that most of the time using the Proboards app the threads collapse into just headers of the individual posts. Sometimes a device rotation gets it back- temporarily- and then it collapses again as soon as I scroll down. Sometimes a like/unlike fixes it (again temporarily until a scroll). Most of the time I go for the "view in a web browser" option whereupon Proboards obliterates part of the display with a "remove ad blocker" nag. That despite the fact that it's their own unsupported app which I paid for to remove ads. Why do I persevere with this abject junk? because Tapatalk is the most irritating rubbish I have ever encountered, even worse than the Proboards app, and Proboards' response to ANY enquiry is non-existent.
I remember the time years ago now when I paid for a month's worth free of adverts on this very forum, and then discovered that only the admin can implement what I had paid for, and guess what- admins don't know about donations unless they specifically track that part of the admin facility down- no notification again. I know this to be the case because I inherited admin on another forum. No cash back hapless donor, no siree. So Proboards trousered that cash because I wasn't going to let Michael know- it would have defeated the altruistic notion.
In short, the PMs thing is but the tip of an iceberg.

And after posting, I viewed it and the thread collapsed. Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

I only use my old HP laptop - adblocker on (sorry Michael) and don't seem to have any problems.
Just sending a test PM to Pete and Stevie.

Hi! Does this problem extend to the ‘Contact Michael Messer’ function on the ‘MM Guitars’ tab? I had a communication line open with Michael which seems to have ground to a halt. Thanks, Chris.
