Cheers Pete, it certainly sounds like it's doing the trick! 😎

I’ve been trying to find a low profile humbucker to replace the piezo on my cigar box but I have no idea how much space there is inside the guitar. Any pointers on where I can find one that won’t cause complications fitting?

If width is not a problem then a Sixtus would be the thing. Or you could make your own. There are some very cheap single coil pickups Most CBGs are not very strong and the string pull is resisted by a ‘neck stick’. You my well be able to chop a big hole in the top ( depending on the design) This pickup was about £6 ( that was 5 or 6 years ago and I had to chop the mounting brackets off ) You could make a humbucker out of 2 of them, though I would be happy with one . The stripped down pickup is only 10mm thick, 7mm with the cover removed Pete My Mark 2 will get a single coil from an old P Bass pickup, ( or rather one half ) the pickup is plenty wide enough for 3 strings.

pete1951,
didn't sound near as thin through an amp. well done.
this may sound ridiculous.
[may very well be ridiculous]
since you are already planning on an increase of acoustic chamber interior, wonder if a 10" cone with a 6" cone inset into it concentrically with a mechanical linkage between them would sound good higher -and- lower in the audible spectrum?
it could be that more strings would be needed to preload both sufficiently?

I think stacked cone would not work ( also 10” is bigger than most CBGs) the support ring for the 6” would mask the top of the 10”. Fine Resophonics did produce a couple of asymmetrical coned guitars ( have a feeling Mike Lewis didn’t make these, Mike or MM may clear that up later) but these were in line.
In most Tricones* the 3 cones are the same spec. So each cone could produce the full frequencies of the guitar ( I guess in a guitar the bass side pair will handle more bass than the treble) so I think a single 6” cone should be able to give all the ‘tone’ of a Tricone, just with less volume ( and maybe less sustain , the T bridge will probably ‘store’ some sound, could that be right?) . Perhaps my next thing is a standard size guitar with a single 6” cone? My 6”coned CBGs is louder than a standard acoustic so could a small cone sound like a good Resonator (only not so loud) and keep up with a standard spruce top?? Pete
* I think at least one maker do bass and treble cones, ?

Pete,
using both without electronic amplification, how does the CBG rate volume-wise against an 1133 national* in your opinion.

*for those not familiar, slab reso open on front and back with no sound chamber

Not sure about 1133 volume. I have never had one . I have made a couple of 1133 inspired guitars, but they had some space behind the cone and ports to let ‘back tone’ out ,they had good volume. . It is certainly as loud or louder than most spruce tops, or at least it ‘cuts though’ . Pete
