Steve is an old friend and I am sure it's a beautiful guitar.
I have one of those which has been with me now for 30 years. They're lovely to play, but don't drop it on your foot as it weighs as much as a small family car!

I have had a few of these over the years, two Nationals a supro and the rare Dobro. they function best with the tone circuit, the early ones just have the volume. On my last National one (similar to Steve's) I fitted a stacked Pot which allowed a tone circuit to be introduced, thus allowing the guitar to develop the range of sounds (sold it to Gwyn ashton). would I buy another maybe not as I cashed in the Dobro and a B6 Rickenbacker to get a Bill Asher custom, but that's my choice I guess. The B6 was the most professional lap steel of that era from my experience, it had everything and more (like Meghan's at Larkin Poe).
Anyway I digress a great piece for a fan or even better to have and play.
