I think if he hopes it doesn’t sell then maybe he shouldn’t put it up for sale On a similar note there’s a guy selling a Triolian, a style 0 and a Beltona at far more modest prices

I admire the guy's suggesting maybe it was the one Son House played! Bit expensive, though, yes.
The Triolian, Style O and Beltona seem to be in Edinburgh, have you seen them up close Mr Snakehips?

When I first got into all this, everyone I spoke to thought they had Son House's guitar. Even I did at one point! Shine On Michael

I recall Derek Trucks thought he'd landed Bukka White's guitar once.

I seem to recall that Tom McGuinness lent his National to Son House (it come back damaged? I think). Not sure if he still has it. Pete

I had not heard that it got damaged, but I do know that it was Tom's guitar. Interestingly, future generations will be able to connect their guitars to previous owners in a way that we have not been able to do. There will be photographic evidence, documentation and serial numbers. Shine On Michael

OK, I'll play.... Apparently my '31 Triolian once belonged to Roy Bookbinder..... I can play that one too! I have owned two guitars that were once Roy Book Binder's. Oh...and I have a plastic "Varsity" ukulele that he sent me as a gift many years ago. In 1985 I bought a Style O from George Gruhn. George said that it had been owned and played by an interesting person, but he would not tell me who because he did not want it to become the guitar's provenance. Shine On Michael

Hi again ! Well, I have met this seller once before, when he had an early Beltona metal Tricone for sale. I bought it - and he seems fairly amenable to lowering prices - especially if he doesn't need to complet a sale on ebay and/or have the hassle of boxing up & shipping risks. I didn't hang to to that Tricone long though (only about 3 months) because a chance came up to buy a minty-ish 1931 roundneck National Style 1 Tricone - and I needed to liquidate assets fast ! I haven't seen the Nationals & Beltona he has for sale now - but I have already had an online brief chat about the Beltona 14-fret single-cone. Not sure about going to someone's house to try out guitars at the moment ! On vintage National prices, I have a 1934/5 14-fret minty Style O for sale (minty except for some wear on the back of the neck, and it's had truss-rod and new fretboard expertly done by Steve Evans of Beltona), and think I can get £3000 for it. I have one potential buyer saving up for it ! Of course, if someone wants to offer me 4k ? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The neck is just a little too bulky for my convalescing broken left wrist - which is fine now, I'm just finding this particular guitar a bit much).

Hey there! Sounds like a decent guy, and he's gone to the trouble of recording some videos with those two Nationals and the Beltona. For one reason and another I let that Polychrome Triolian move on to a new home last year, was a nice guitar though, would be happy to pick up another one. Let us know if you get a chance to try his guitars out when things are safer, calmer on the corona front.
And good luck with the sale of the Style O -

Hi again !
The Edinburgh seller got a younger lad to play the guitars in those videos. I know the young lad a little - and when I told him I'd seen the videos, he got all embarassed saying he is not used to playing slide. I thought he did a pretty good job. The seller isn't the guy in the videos, but that shouldn't make any difference.
