For various reasons I do not patronise Sky or the Murdock press, this is a pity sometimes as there are some very good programs produced by the company. Sky Arts is now on the freeview digital tv channel in the UK. One program of interest was on earlier this week and is Born in Chicago, repeated at 2,15am Saturday morning , as the name implies, is about the rise of blues ( particularly white American). Unfortunately I only saw the middle of the program but lots of archive footage of the great and the good. Pete

Eric Cs Crossroads Fest. 2019 on Sky Arts tonight (Saturday, repeat on 2.00am next Saturday). Several other bits mixed in this week that could be of interest. Pete

Pete, the Born in Chicago was worth a watch. Plenty of stuff about their influences.

Yes, that program was a good one, I haven’t watched the Crossroads thing ( and may not see it, I am very low-tec and don’t have a recording device) but it usually attracts some big names. Pete

Born in Chicago, on again on UK Sky Arts. 11.15 tonight (Friday 22 Jan) Got round to watching this last night - enjoyed it very much and learned a bit, too. Interesting what was going on with Bloomfield, Butterfield et al at the same time as what was going on with Korner, Mayall et al on the other side of the Atlantic - the former had the privilege of seeing and playing with the originals on a nightly basis. No internet and cheap travel in them days, either....

Just noticed there’s a program on ‘Pub Rock’ tonight at 8.00pm on SkyArts. Might be fun Pete
PS: a pub was a place where people used to gather to drink ( often alcohol) and sometimes listen to music. They are rare these days but you may be lucky and find one in the summer, hopefully there will be lots of swallows this year , some in a pub.
