Hey everyone,
I would like to hang up my Lightning... with its weight I'm just concerned about how long I can and will it hurt the neck joint over time.
Huge thanks ... and keep pickin !

Hanging your Lightning on the wall is absolutely fine. Use a proper guitar wall hanger, or a loop of wire around the G and D tuner and a strong hook screwed into the wall. I have been hanging resonator guitars on walls for as long as I can remember. Shine On Michael

The pull on a neck from the strings is huge, the weight of the guitar ( pulling the other way) is tiny. The only consideration is possible damage to the finish each side of the head if you use a hanger. Most modern ones seem well padded, though if you don’t use your guitar for extended periods the rubber( or what ever it is) may cause some stains. I have been hanging mine from the m/heads for many years, the only drawback is that you can get some minor rub marks from the wall. Wallpaper finishes should cause no problems, but paint on old plaster can be rough. Most new hangers let the instrument stand off the wall a few inches, though there is always the chance someone will knock the guitar and send it swinging into the wall or the next in line. Most of these have been hanging for 20years or so , no necks have come off yet. One problem for people who live in more extremes of climate than the UK is humidity (and sometimes the lack of it) . If you have hot (damp or very dry) summers and sub-zero winters and you don’t have some sort of climate control a case might be a better place.

I hang shirts (as loud as possible) between mine and the wall to stop rubbing

ello folks hanging up your guitar....I look out for old small dumped pine bedside cabinets as in pic these are 5x14ins mark a 3" compass radius and pilot drill and fix them to a solid wall with 3x3" number 10 screws which will be concealed by the hanger plate which comes with 3 20mm screws and yes the soft material over time will squash down and perish over time so remove it and replace with clear rubber hose available in uk largest diy chain in many diff sizes,

Here's one I got from Ken a while back. It has just come out of therapy and will now stay in tune when played by someone with decent taste in shirts! Lol! Best wishes to you all, John
