I've just sold my acoustic and freed up some funds so I'm looking to get myself an archtop guitar; non-cutaway with magnetic pickup ideally. Something like a Loar LH309VS, Eastman AR405E or Gretsch G9555 would be perfect. Open to other suggestions, so please get in touch if you have something you're looking to move on. 1 3/4 nut preferred. Cheers

Hi Kristo, not selling anything but just a suggestion: look for a vintage Gibson ES125. They do not cost a leg, they are amazing and they retain their price with time. I have a '57 that I paid 1800 Euro but It's really something! You might find it even cheaper if you are lucky... Frank

Thanks Frank. As awesome as an ES125 would be, I think that’s gonna be out of my price range.

I got a 1936 Epiphone Zenith off eBay last year for less than £500. Not original or mint, but very playable
Just looked and there are Hofner, Framus, Godin and others from £75 upwards. If it's for slide....
Cheers

Picked up a Washburn HB-15 used for about 150GBP. It's my "ES125" - with humbucker swapped out for P90, Kluson tuners, rosewood zig-zag bridge & Bakelite control knobs. 1 3/4" nut. 2 3/4" body depth makes it comfortable to play & easy to handle. Not made for several years now, also came in cutaway style. But then again, maybe Washburn is not a guitar brand that shows up in Britain very often...

I'd go for an old Framus or Hofner.
They are good guitars and will hold their price, too.

I've got a Hondo fat boy L5 that I have hand to hand combat with once in a while! Fabulous guitar, I've got it set up for slide, not really what it was made for. Cutaway with demazzio pu's so not exactly wot you asked for. Not particularly looking to flog it......but you've usually got sumfink nice knocking about!
Best wishes to you all, John

Also a 61 Hofner Congress with an Artec neck mounted ceramic pickup. Cool jazz!

Thanks for the ideas. It won’t be for slide, just a bit of jazz comping and fingerpicking.

Definitely the Gretsch G9555. I had one, sold it and regretted doing so since.

Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin. Nice P90, Gibson style neck and scale length. If you are still looking, I might be prepared to sell mine. I need to thin the herd.
