I have been trying to find some information about this gig I went to and wondered if any other forum members were there. The only mention of it on the ‘web’ I can find is on an old post on the Weenie Campbell site. The venue was called The Hole in the Wall ( that’s what the WC post says, I can’t remember) and the only other member of the band I recall was Walter Horton on harp. A friend is compiling some stuff about the experiences of blues fans in the UK and this was an amazing gig. Pete

Muddy was the star, and that year there had been a lot of memorable gigs. It seemed unremarkable at the time that I could sit in a very small club and see one of the greats ( saw Sun House at the 100Club the month before ) we all thought a constant stream of the best Bluesmen would be coming to a club near us forever. Pete - seeing Son House is on a par with seeing God. Great cd of him at the 100 Club from 1970, "Delta Blues and Spirituals" with Alan Wilson playing harp on some songs.

The 100 Club recording is wonderful. As well as Al Wilson playing harp, it features Dave Kelly (as Delta Dave, due to being signed to another label) on guitar. Shine On Michael

I saw Muddy Waters three times, twice in the 1970s at Capital Radio Jazz Festivals with Johnny Winter and that whole band, and once as the opening act for Eric Clapton. Eric was so embarrassed by the billing situation that after a few songs, he invited Muddy out to play with his band. They were wonderful together.

Contact musician, Mike Cooper, you'll find him somewhere on the Internet. Shine On Michael.
