We have an answer: LivinTheBlues LivinTheBlues 1 day ago Aug 9, 1969 seattle washington and the resonator belonged to Bob West its from a radio interview There are photos of West with the resonator and the radio interview, outtakes below. I believe Fred came to the interview with his own guitar and played both his and West's resonator as well, as during the interview while he's tuning his guitar he gives some instruction to West to try and you can hear both. www.krabarchive.com/programs/krab-has-the-blues-king-biscuit-time.html

Thanks alot PD for asking and posting the reply you got from LivinTheBlues Channel!
Listened to the whole first part, if I heard correctly, there are two guitars, his electric and Bob West's resonator Fred he plays the resonator on the Highway 61 - he comments when he picks it up. There's some playing with Bob West on resonator.
Fred comments on how he tunes, palm damps which may be of interest..
Besides the interview there are 10 songs. The guitar Fred is playing is the one he used on the London recording and I believe also the Lomax Film and the Seattle footage of him. At one point Bob West remarks on a diamond adornment and you can see it was not on the Lomax but appears on the Seattle and the London recording obscuring a portion of the headstock.
I don't know the maker of the guitar, it's not the Gibson.

I think it's a Commodore guitar but I'm not 100% sure.
I'll check some more...

I think it's a Commodore guitar but I'm not 100% sure. I'll check some more... Thanks, I couldn't find an example of the writing in a similar length on the headstock and I did surf through footage to see if I could get a clear frame of it, but no luck. Some info on the guitars, if people are interested from Tom Pomposello is in this document - Tom was his bass player www.scribd.com/document/3074437/Mississippi-Fred-McDowell . He says he did not know the model brand - it conked and was replaced by the Gibson. Fred's Trini Lopez Gibson is easy to spot - it has a Fender headstock and a modification by Fred of the angle at the nut by a metal bar.

If we’re talking about FMcD’s electric semi- before the Trini Lopez, I believe it’s said to be a Crucianelli... (Italian make)

I keyed it in in google and one came up on Goodwill sales page - I grabbed the logo from there and posted below the links for comparison to photos/footage of Fred with the guitar. www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/76235425Also if you are interested there's a pix of it at Getty Images Link where you can see the modification to the nut quite clearly.

Which recordings did you listen to that have Fred playing a resophonic guitar? I just listened to parts of these two and I didn't hear one. Shine On Michael

The first post on this thread, Michael.
The link I added this morning I have to work through. I thought it would be of interest when I saw all those interviews and stuff. PD.
