Hi- I have always had nuisance issues with guitar stands leaving black residue on my stella type parlor guitar bottom edges which are painted and then sealed with varnish (I think). I don't have the issue with the newer model guitars. And I am always touching them up. I found these finger cots in January which I put on the extensions that hold the guitar that have worked well and saved me from the maintenance task so I thought I would post the idea if anyone has similar issues and is interested in trying this. No affiliation to this link, it's the ones I've been using though there are many different types, including maybe cotton gloves - admin please remove if unwanted... FINGERCOTSLawd lawdy. Harriet

I threw away the rubber housing, which tends to start deteriorating after a while, and put food grade silicone tubing on some wall hangers which works a treat.Comes in loads of diameters. Will grip the guitar better than cotton too,and you can cut to size.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that then on the stand that just has a neck grab when what Hercules calls their "special formulated rubber foam" starts to deteriorate- I don't see any issues on the necks as of yet on mine, but other forum members might have.

Works equally well on floor stands too.Don't know why but that rubber foam never seems to last long before disintegrating. Mind you I've always bought the cheapest stands available on ebay.
