This is a very basic question...but if you don't ask you don't find out, so here goes. About 10 years ago I bought a couple of National Resophonic guitars, and tuned one in G and the other in D. And they have remained in that tuning ever since. I have recently been thinking of swopping the tunings over for a change, so the one that is now in G is in D and vice versa. If I did this, would it upset the balance of the guitars in any way? I wondered if I would need to get them set up, like you do with electrics, if you change tunings. Maybe I would be best leaving well alone after all this time!
Any advice would be most welcome,
Many thanks.

Hi Dave, I don't think you'll have any problems at all.
Best wishes to you all, John

Dave, John is absolutely correct. It will be totally fine. When I travel with one guitar I change tunings all the time, and at home I do not have guitars in certain tunings. I change tunings on all my guitars. That's what they're for!
Enjoy your guitars. Treat them with respect, but enjoy and use them to do whatever it is you want to do.

Thank you very much for the advice, Michael and John. Like all the very best advice, it was exactly what I was hoping to hear! Good wishes to you both, Dave

I must admit I've a tendency to keep my MM lightening in Open D.
But my MM Blues goes in each practice from CrossNote, Open D to DADGAD for fingerpicking (and to Open G sometimes). I use to take two guitars out to play (when we went out) but I hated lugging stuff about, so I moved to one guitar does everything.
I exclusively use Newtone strings 15s on my resonators and never had issues.
On my acoustics I tend not to alter the tunings from the open Tunings to standard concert E as I've had more string issues. I use 13s Newtones and Martin.

I use Newtone strings 15s as well. I changed the tunings, and was pleased at how they both styed in their new states straight away. Incidentally, the Lightening has been calling my name for a few years now. A beautiful looking guitar. One of theses days..
