Apparently the first hundred copies pre ordered come with a splinter from the true cross! 😎👍

I notice while reading various posts about this book and photo on social media, that I am not the only sceptic about it all.
Oops...wrong photo. Better start using the new one because that will be on everything from now on.

Hi again !
I am fairly sure there will be nothing in this new book that will be much more than 2nd hand information, and leading-question answers, at best BUT the photo is real, as far as I'm concerned. I don't believe the photo should be rubbished JUST because of all that has gone before, with dodgy photos alleging RJ is in them, and myths&legends etc etc.
Maybe of the new picture had the cigarette half smoked (half the length) then maybe some more would believe ?
Seen at different angles - this new picture and the Hooks Brothers, Gibson L1 picture, the appearance of his teeth at both angles look REALLY likely the same teeth, from my 23yrs qualified as a Dentist viewpoint.

Funny thing... I first got into RJ's music when I was a young teenager in around 1969/70, and there were no photos of him. It was common knowledge among all researchers that no photos existed. It stayed that way from the 1930s until sometime around 1990 when all of a sudden, just in time to coincide with a worldwide major release of his work, a photo appeared of him looking perfect for a front cover. Then a while later in the midst of the media mania that followed that release, up pops another. Now, just in time for the new book, what do we have.... another photo. In all three photos our man is making cool looking relevant chords. Operation Mincemeat in the Second World War was an extraordinary deception done by creating a person that never existed.
This is all very good PR for the book, in fact it is perfect!

He's got some hypermobility of the finger joints though. In both the pictures if not 'shopped. I've only ever met one person able to bend the top knuckle whilst the rest of the finger stays straight, and luckily (for strugglers like me) he never took up the guitar!

well, in this present instance, it seems to me that the provenance seems pretty strong - if the elderly lady/family member is indeed who she appears to be & can offer further circumstantial/background evidence, I'd reckon that to be validation enough; unfortunately, we live in a world full of competing 'truths', which makes it hard not to be cynical - but I guess now & again, something may happen that IS just what it purports to be.. either way, I'll not lose any sleep over it,
gullibly yours,

Robert will always look like this to me, (though with a slide on his little finger) Pete And turned 90 degrees

I wonder if the book / pic thing is more chicken and egg. I propose that the pictures are found, and then deals made to beef it up with a book. TT

I swore to myself that I wouldn't comment but I can't help it.....
Am I right in seeing that RJ is playing the same chord shape in all three photos i.e the original two accepted ones and this new one?
In which case, could those with better eyes, computer knowledge, photo experience etc. than me have a look and see if there has been any photo manipulation with his left hand.
I hope that it is a genuine happy, smiley picture of RJ but I'm yet to be convinced.
Harriets point of actually showing the original, front and back, as it is, makes the best sense to me.

I Thought the guitar in the pic where he is wearing a suit is a different one? 12 fret to body? where closer ones its a KG -14 with a capo ?

Yes Jono, you're correct, the guitars are different in the suit vs braces pics., but I'm talking about the actual chord shape that the man is fingering and his left hand.

Sorry Pickers thought you were hinting at some "photo manipulation" going on ..

Jono, I'm hinting at a possible check to see if the left hand from the other two pics. have been used, that's all.
I'm just being cynical, as usual, and asking if someone with more expertise in the photgraphy / photoshop field than me can have a look and give us an opinion, that's all.
