Some reviews of the Shure SV88 talk about latency issues. Have you noticed the audio and video are not in sync with each other - especially on fast songs ? Nope, never noticed. I usually film audio separately but have done all in one too without problems here is a clip of my friend playing, it was just iPhone 8+ with MV88.

I’ve decided that the video quality from my iPhone XR or iPad is good enough foe YouTube or Facebook, the major problem for me is the sound quality even though play back on a phone or computer speakers isn’t the best. I’ve decided to use a studio mic and an interface and record on iPhone or iPad. There should be no sync or latency problems. I’ll put a demo up shortly.

I don't know what 5slide was using but his sound was excellent. michaelmesser.proboards.com/post/95327/threadI don't know if this is the place but one thing that cheeses me off is people shooting videos in PORTRAIT MODE!! I don't recall seeing anyone do that on videos on this site but why people do that I don't know (well, maybe I do). People shooting things like Grand Canyon and scenic shots would be a lot better in Landscape mode. A guy I used to see in bands and solo on Cape Cod was doing a live show on "FaceDbook" as a benefit to local musicians out of work because all of the bars are closed. I was already tuned in with the laptop into a big TV but the page never went live for me and a few others. The page still says "Starting Soon". The next day I saw that they posted a "preview" of the show and I messaged that I hoped the camera was held properly for the show and then "Oops, guess not". His talent was great but the whole show looked like PORTRAIT MODE and the sound was like just the phone's microphone. I would have been really bummed if I had seen that on the big TV with two thirds of the screen black. I just think in videos it's important to show the whole scene. I like the iphone 7+ but that lightning connector drives me nuts. With the adapter I should be able to plug in some audio source but haven't been able to. I was going to get an iRig 2 at one of Guitar Centers Weekly Once in a Lifetime Sales for $7.99 but of course they didn't have any. I can't say that I've seen ANY bad videos posted here. I hope this isn't considered an advert but the pic for the show was kind of funny. He goes by the name Brother Phil. Attachments:

Hi again !
Well 7 weeks have passed since I broke my left wrist - and I got my cast off, last Friday. Very limited movements in my wrist and fingers so far. If I hold a guitar in the classical-guitar position, between my legs, with the neck angled quite upwards, I can JUST reach a slide onto the 1st string, but I can't yet fret notes with my fingers - I just can't get my fingers to close into a first, or onto guitar strings yet. So, no recording experiments still for me just yet. I'll be posting when I can though. Haven't bought any new kit though (other than extra light strings to aid me getting back onto guitar faster)

Rich, Can you not play lap style just to get you going and get the ears back? Worked for me after I broke my wrist many years ago. Just got things moving for a week or two.

Get my ears back ? Nothing wrong with my ears, ha ha !!!
I'm finding keyboards easier just now - Hammond type organ (with it's lighter action keys) than piano. I did manage a wee bit of Open D slide on my Fraulini 12-string, sliding melodies (Blind Willie Johnson type stuff) just on the 1st double course. I can't bring my wrist and fingers around the neck any further. What did pleasantly surprise me is that I've still got most of my slide vibrato. I thought that with my still very limited fingers and wrist movement, I would have to re-learn my vibrato. It comes from the elbow even more than I thought - as I can still move my whole forearm via my elbow and shoulder, quite well. Good vibrato comes from swinging the whole lower arm by my thumb, firmly planted on the bass side of the neck, around 2 frets lower than where I want the slide - swing like a monkey via the thumb resting on the neck. I have noticed there are some who when playing slide up the neck, bring their thumb down below the neck - and I've never heard them be able to do a decent vibrato. That thumb-rest on the bass side of the neck is SO important.

If you go to facebook, try to find the "Watch" video of this guy: "Nell & Jim Band" - Microphone tips - Build a PZM microphone
At the end of the video he is speaking about a free app for Iphone "Dolby On",Tried it the other day it's brillant, very easy to use when holding an instrument too...

I have this Radio Shack boundary microphone that I've been meaning to test out (maybe today). I re-read the instructions and found that it should be sitting on a hard surface and not behind me on the bed as it was when I tried to shoot it into the iphone with the lightning connector. Looks like it will be back to the Sony stereo 8mm video camera with this mic. I used to use 3 Shure mics of a similar type on tables going into a mixer and then into the camcorder for local government meetings for a local cable TV station. The only problem was people that liked to tap their fingers or a pencil during the meeting, . When looking to see if I had a photo of it already I ran across photos for the Astatic 77 microphone that I sold on that auction site. I think I got $80 US for it and kick myself every time I see the photos. It was really crisp sounding after going into a Low-Z (3 prong) to Hi-Z (1/4 inch) adapter and into a Peavey Vintage 4-10 amp that I tested it with. Sure wish that I kept it. Attachments:

I made a New Year's resolution to record and post videos as a way to get comfortable playing in front of others. I bought a Zoom 2Qn and a Zoom IQ7 for my I-Phone 11. I gotta say, the I-phone with the mic is pretty awesome. Plus, it's way more convenient and for me, that means I'm going to use it more. I'm kinda in the photo/video business, so I'm pretty picky about quality. I've been very impressed by the I Phone 11. I even turn it around so I can see the screen as I'm shooting so I can frame everything up properly. I know this negates the use of the really great lenses that are on the other side, but the quality is still outstanding. Plus, If you are going to edit at all (I usually just pull a little 2 minute clip and fade in and out on the head and tail end using I-Movie) you just Air Drop the clip to your Mac and you are off and running!
I'm looking into that Dolby On app that was suggested above. Looks promising!

I just looked at the Zoom IQ7 and I have to wonder how that would work for someone who wants to shoot a video in LANDSCAPE mode like it should be. I would have to get an extension cord so that the mic would be properly oriented to the camera so you'd get Left and Right and not up and down. I just don't understand it. I saw someone who made some kind of propeller system so you could take selfies with a phone. Only trouble is it's shooting PORTRAIT mode.

Joe, I have an iQ7 and you can adjust the orientation so it is correct left-right stereo in landscape mode. Zoom products are excellent. Shine On Michael
