Beautiful photograph. Muddy & Geneva Waters by the late Art Shay. This was in its own thread, but it is the perfect match for this thread that was started by stevie2sticks. Muddy Waters - Little Geneva Shine On Michael

Been workin real hard on this song and I'm stuck with lyrics.
I can't make out the last line in the last verse after the solo at all. (Listened and can't pick it up and search lyrics online and they don't match the song recorded on You Tube).
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for reading Steve IOM

Hi Steve, I think Michael’s performance is a composite. Some verses from Train Fare Home and some from Blues and Trouble. Muddy probably recorded it several times and differently each time. If in doubt make your own up. I find I can remember ‘my’ words better than the real ones :-)

Steve, The song is about Muddy living in Chicago and being homesick for his hometown, Clarksdale.
This is the original recorded on Aristocrat Records
------------------------------------------- Well you know blues & trouble just keep on worrying me Well blues & trouble, child just keep on worrying me Well you know they're bothering me so bad I just can't stay here no more
Well you know if I could get lucky and win my train fare home Well you know if I happen to get lucky, honey and win my train fare home Well you know I believe I go back down in Clarksdale Little girl that's where I belong
...alright let's go home this morning babe...
Well you know it seems so sad, child I wonder just how can it be Well you know it seems so sad, sugar I wonder just how can it be Well you know everybody seems welcome In this old place but me -------------------------------------------
There you go

After the Rain is a superb record. Back in my formative years i listened to it a lot and it played a big part in influencing my style.

The early Aristocrat stuff too, just spellbindingly brilliant. There’s only vocal, electric guitar and upright bass on that recording of Train Fare Home

Thank you Michael.
Just the job. It's been a very interesting study. The version of guitar, singer and upright base is magic.
I've got the playin part off (with an odd gremlin), now I'm gonna build on the singing bit. Tricky.
Thanks again. Stay well Michael

I’ve had a quick look and among all the Chess and Capitol stuff I found 3 or 4 collections. Any advice warmly received. In the meantime I’m enjoying the snare sound and general feel of the album Folk Singer 👍🥁 Lew

Hi Michael thank you, that's really kind.
When it's sorted I'll post it. I'm happy to post mistakes and all, that's part of the learning for me.
Thanks again Steve

It was released in 2001 and Catfish went out of business in 2003, but the CD still turns up.
