Last weekend I had to go to hospital as my toe had swollen up. Ah! I here you say, dropped a reso on it from a great hight , but no that’s not it. Ok then, tripped over an amp lead? No, after an X-ray they discovered a 1/4” of guitar string stuck in there! Going back tomorrow to see about possible removal. Will let you know what gauge it is ,I hope later...

Ouch!
I sympathise Pete. I used to get glass fibre splinters at work (thankfully very rarely) and they are a right royal pain (both literally and figuratively) because you can't see them and often the strands act like barbs too.

Guitar strings should carry a health warning, I had a thin E or B string break when doing something or other to a guitar the recoil of the string made it go in the hand like an IV line, pulled it out and when stopped bleeding I carried on.

I used to get stabbed regularly by the short cut end of the "octave G" string on my 5 string banjo until I decided to roll up the surplus into a small loop about the size of a wedding ring. Now it just moves out of the way if my hand bumps into it - hey presto problem solved !
Happy days

Hi there !
I'm always conscious of letting my kids, especially when they were younger, mess around with my guitars at the headstock end, in case they skewered their finger/hand into a cut string end. My wife still thinks I try to keep them away from my guitars because I don't trsut them not to break them - and is always confused when she sees me letting them play the guitars ! I hope it's just the string that needs removed. Tetanus injection required ??

I thought this was a music forum Shine On Michael “TALKING BLUES - This is the place to meet and talk about any subject that is music and guitars related” Think it qualifies as guitars related....just. 😉

I've thought the same in the past about that sub-forum title, but I felt it was a case of "not my club- not my rules". That said- I don't really think it's a biggie. I have seen other forums wither and die on the vine under the cosh of rabid moderators. I inherited admin on another guitar related forum and I let folks go their own way provided they're civil, considerate and decent. The fundamental difference here is that it's easy to forget this is part of a brand. That has to take precedence.

Personally, the dangers of music I would think qualify, well, not quite as dangerous as a pirate’s life in the 1700’s, but I’m sure a good lute story would’ve been welcomed at the Pirates Forum back then!
That made me cringe when I read it. The OP as well as mine..

You should be ashamed of yourself Neal, go walk that plank! (Sorry Michael, last one from me I promise)!
Best wishes to you all, John
