That guitar is not a prototype of any kind and it was not built in conjunction with National Reso-Phonic Guitars. It is a Korean-built generic instrument that was branded with various names. Some of them had pineapples and palm trees on the headstock. The engraving was a clever copy and even matched the style of Mr Williams at National in the 30s, but it was done with a computer driven laser that etched the metal. The dolphins look terrible. Its value is less than a third of the asking price.

The strange back pressing is typically of Korean resos. You can get some good sounding ones, but most of the effort of manufacturing usually goes into the finish, rather then sound and playability. Ozark branded ones did some very odd nickel/gold models (they may have been the ones with pineapple inlays). Pete
The dolphins seem to have no particular porpoise...

For that money you can get a guitar that definitely had input from National. A National
