Anyone ever heard of Dixie guitars? I can’t find anything on the web. The case has hardware made by a company called Luco, again nothing on line. The guitar is cheaply but solidly built, with a sprayed flamed maple effect and crude black ‘sunburst’ very fat neck with a flat wide finger board. Pete

Nice looking guitar Pete. Looks inspired by the 60's Hofner archtops.

If it'the guitar follows along the lines of the Hofner - I was interested in one of their electric verithin models for the wide flat neck and checked - the vintage neck spec was 1 7/8 at the nut. I don't know if that has changed in the current line.

Nice looking guitar Pete. Looks inspired by the 60's Hofner archtops. I think it is older than most Hofners. I am thinking of selling it, it looks fantastic in the picture, in real life it is rather 'road-worn' PT

Hi Pete, yet again I've managed to get hold of the wrong end of the stick! I thought it was a new company you'd found, making retro looking guitars! Duh! One of my hofner archtops from the early 50's looks identical, even having the same tailpiece. If you do decide to move it on can I have first refusal please.
Best wishes to you all, John

The one on the left. Dated around 1953 just before it became the Congress as best as I have found out.

Just noticed yours has no zero fret and a lot more binding especially on the neck. Mmmmmmm very interesting! Or is that a zero fret Pete?

It does have a zero fret, the details are not like any Horner I have seen . Pete

Some of the hardware and details very similar to Andymccanns post, though nothing exactly the same. Pete We may never know. I have also noticed that my guitar has the same very narrow binding on the neck, just halfway through the finger board, unlike most USA made models.

Hi all, well I picked up the guitar from Pete a couple of weeks ago, nice solid archtop but as he had described a bit roadworn! Previous owners had had a go at repainting without much success, so I decided to take the old girl in an entirely different direction! I hope none of you feel that what I have done is sacreligious but I have ended up with a very nice sounding slide guitar. New tuners and a jazzy paint job that gives a kind of deco look I hope. Best wishes to you all, John
