In an earlier discussion Mr M noted that 10.5” cones are available. I contacted National and they aren’t currently making any Does anyone know of any sources? Thing is if it ain’t National I’m not sure I’d want it. This could all be moot anyway, it a just-in-case before I look at a guitar in the next couple of weeks

I had a customer once who felt his 10 1/2” cone ( in a 70s? Dobro) sounded weak. I made a birch ply ring and fitted an NRP 9 1/2” is sounded ,to both of us ‘better’, and he hadn’t refitted the old cone last time I saw him, some 10years later. Pete

Those cones are pretty much the same as original OMI Quarterman cones. It all depends if you want to optimise the guitar, or keep it as it was intended. A 9.5" National or Continental cone will sound better than the 10.5", but to fit it you do have to glue a ring of wood, steel or brass into the guitar, which if done correctly would be a fairly permanent fixture.
