This whole concert astounded me - it takes an awful lot to do that, believe me. I thought I'd heard and seen everything about great music and performance until yesterday, then this happened, thanks to my son. Watch the whole concert right through....it's got everything with only a minimalist stage set up and superb musicianship.  |

Revised review! Few hours and a couple of rums later much better! I suppose ten o'clock in the morning might be a bit early for a full blown concert!
Also caught up on the one Jono recommended about the cigar box guitars on BBC iPlayer. Interesting. Be nice to see one on reso's wouldn't it?!

Best wishes to you all, John Back in the mid 90s Mark Makin and I were very close to getting a budget from the ITV network to make a one-off documentary about National and Dobro instruments. Unfortunately our application coincided with Bob Smeaton's application to fund the Beatles Anthology documentary and guess who won! Our film was going to be called "Shine On" and Johnny Cash was going to sing the song "Shine On" which a few years later I recorded on my Second Mind album. Shine On Michael |

Get old Knopfler involved, the three of you would know all there is to know, both musically and historically.
I don't recall ever seeing a show featuring reso's, most of us get excited if we see one in the background occasionally!

John, It is still a good idea and would be a great project. Mark, along with a handful of other A list musicians, were happy to be involved. We were very close to getting the funding, but as I said in my previous post, the Beatles Anthology got all that year's music documentaries budget. A lot has changed since 1994.
