We still don't know if we'll be through this by next year. Personally, I'm not so sure that we will. A lot of people in the live entertainment industry are talking 2022 before booking anything. Whilst this is very sad news. I am sure we all agree that keeping your family & friends safe is a top priority.
For me, I will try support musicians in other ways wherever I can.
I am retired and blues, guitar and it’s community has helped my mental health tremendously. And I am grateful for all the positive help I’ve received.
If you read the science rather than the politicians, it’s obvious that this has a long long way to go yet. It’s a good call Michael, stay safe.

....although if Michael can source enough tutors for a 5 student to 1 tutor ratio, and enough rooms. I'll get me coat ....it's okay, stay where you are, I'll get it for you On a more serious note; With or without the six people rule, it is just not possible to participate in an event like our Pocklington weekend and all keep two metres (minimum) apart. The risks involved in running and attending such an event, in my humble opinion, make it pointless. It is now more than six months since I performed in public. This is the longest gap I have ever experienced and it is really getting to me now. I play every day and I am working on some new material for an album, but summoning up the motivation is getting harder. Let's hope that by this time next year things might be returning to some kind of normality. Shine On Michael

An alternative venue for the Northern sliders? Roundhay park, Leeds, 7 x 2-metre benches (one too many for rule of 6), roofed, pretty view, socially distanced. No? Well I suppose it’ll be a bit parky (pun intended) in November. Roll on to next year in Pocklington then. Cheers

Blooming Pockllington again!
One thing I will miss is chatting to other guitar players. I was hoping to have a discussion about keeping your guitar in tune. I could do a short video with my ideas on getting your instrument to stay in tune but it would have been much better with a load of others to bounce ideas back and forth and see what ways the rest of attendees use. Pete I may still make something for a virtual-Pockfest , and see if my strategies work ( or not , or even make sense) I could write it all down but that seems like more work than talking to camera

Why don't we arrange a series of meets on Zoom (as has been mooted on more than one occasion)at a time to suit as many as possible in their own time zone. (Say 16.00GMT ish) I suggest a series due to the time restraints with Zoom so each meet could perhaps deal with different aspects of playing ie slide, lap steel, tuning, practicing etc.Meets could be limited to say eight people to avoid a situation where thirty (or three hundred) people all start to talk at once.I'd be up for organising a Weisse related meet.Once everyone got in the habit of using Zoom and preparing in advance it could do a lot to lift the 'Isolation Blues' as well as being a valuable resource.Oh and it would be free.
