Hello,
I'm selling this for a friend.
Not the cleanest Triolian obviously, but plays and sound good.
Long story short, after I bought my Polychrome 107P (again, thank you so much Michael for helping me finding the right one!), my friend fell in love with it and bought this one from a Czech guitarist.
When it arrived it didn't sound good, so I brought it to Mike Lewis along with my 107P which needed a setup. Mike said the cone was damaged beyond repair, and fitted one of his one cones. He managed to save the original biscuit though. He also replaced the (non original) tuners with correct fleur de lys replacement from Stewmac.
Prior to my friend owning the guitar, the neck had been refretted with jumbo's and the fingerboard planned (hence the partial discoloration). Mike said the luthier who had done it was skilled, and probably used to work on Gibson archtops (look at the fret nibs).
Once set up by Mike, this guitar sounds good. Having currently both my 107P and this one at home, I would say the 3 pieces body of mine has the edge, but this one certainly doesn't pale in comparison.
The back of the neck is worn, with a very smooth feel. The profile has a very slight hint of a V that I feel extremely comfortable to play. Neck-wise, I prefer this one to mine honestly.
The guitar is fitted with a first iteration of Barcus Berry Hi-Tek, which reads 4,6K.
Asking price is 2600€, or 2300€ without the pickup. Shipping vary with location, so please inquire.

Sorry to party poop but I think a realistic price in the current climate bearing in mind the non original bits would be around £1,750.

Hi Graeme, thanks for the headup. I'll discuss that with my friend and see if he agrees to lower the price. 1750 GBP would be around 2000 euros, is that correct? Not sure what you mean about the pickup though, could you elaborate?

i am guessing it is "sacrilege" putting a pickup on something that would never have one originally.

OK, but the guitar hasn't been drilled for it. The jack was installed in the F-hole, easily reversed mod...

Hi HH, Some people on this forum, myself included, don't like to see holes drilled in vintage Nationals.Once they're there that's it for eternity. The cone is the pickup. I also know from experience that walnut burst Triolians, despite their fabulous sound (I own one) are probably the most difficult to move on.Hopefully no offence taken as none intended. Cheers, Graeme EDIT: Sorry I presumed the pick up was fitted with screws.I still stand by my valuation however.

What people are prepared to individually pay and what the market will stand are two different things, if you want to sell quickly go with what Grahame says, personally I would hold out for a bit more,
Nice looking Guitar by the way.

I'm quite certain that (eg) Mike Lewis could "deal" with a hole in a vintage Nat. and without dental inspection mirrors, we'd be none the wiser.

@graeme : no offense taken I confirm the pickup is held with a piece of double side tape. Those BB pickups were never meant to be held by screws. Not sure about the meaning of the last comment, but the pickup was installed after Mike set up the guitar. Actually, when I was with Mike and the guitar, we noticed that it probably had a similar pickup in the past, as there are wear marks on the treble side lower bout, where people use to tape the jack when they don't want to install it in the f-hole, but there was not pickup back then. I can certify Mike didn't fill holes in this guitar, and I'm sure he would confirm that if asked. I came from Belgium, so he was kind enough to let me stay at his workshop the whole day and take the guitar back to Brussels. As for the price, I'm not the one making decisions and I've yet to hear the reply of the owner.

This is a lovely guitar. I don't like talking online about the value of guitars, but I would not drop from the original price, unless I was in a hurry to sell it. If this was on the wall in a London shop, it would sell for more than your asking price. Just saying Shine On Michael

Thanks Michael!
Do you mean I should stand by the 2600€ I originally asked? Or the current price?

Thanks Michael! Do you mean I should stand by the 2600€ I originally asked? Or the current price? Yes, your original asking price, not the current one. Shine On Michael
